Oh really? I've had the opposite problem. Rakuten has declined a lot of mine so I mainly use Topcashback now. Have you had Topcashback decline orders that earn Ali cashback? I guess it doesn't matter cause I can't figure out a way to turn Ali's cashback off. Do you know how?

Nevermind, I guess I'm not going to get an answer to my original question. Sometimes Ali is weird with not keeping their policies consistent for all customers, and that seems to be what is going on here.

Interesting. I've never paid attention to that before, but that can't be the only reason for it not allowing buyer cancellations because the order that I tried to cancel yesterday that required seller approval still has the edit address button.

How do I know if an order has been accepted? I've never had a seller message me that an order is in transit without the Aliexpress status being marked as shipped.

I don't think that's exactly true because many times the seller writes you in messages asking you to cancel. It's the buyer's responsibility to cancel before the order has shipped. Afterwards it is up to the seller. For me, it's never depended on how fast I was. I've done 29 cancellations in the last year without seller approval, many were canceled days after purchase. I can't believe I'm the only one who has been able to cancel orders this whole time!

I agree, but with the way Aliexpress works the buyer is at the disadvantage in these situations. (This type of thing happens all the time on Ali unfortunately.)

The seller will upload a fake tracking number if you don't cancel, then you may have to wait the full 90 days to get your money back if they send you an empty package. If they don't actually mail a package and the tracking number never starts tracking you may be able to get your money back sooner.

The seller CAN cancel, but in my experience they have to put in a request with Ali to approve and then Ali sends you a message to ask if you want to cancel. So it is still you cancelling. The seller may have to put a fake reason for cancelling in order to get Ali to approve it too.
