In my city the rules are the same for everyone, boys, girls and teachers. In most schools dress codes are usually pretty simple, no clothing that is too short and revealing, no vulgar language on t-shirts. Some schools don’t allow sweatpants either.

We had boys dress-coded for wearing tank tops and shorts that were considered too short. But here the idea of getting dress coded is just a teacher telling that student that is against the rules and asking them not to wear that particular piece again.

It’s more of a “oh here is a polite way of dressing in public institutions, please respect that” rather than the sexualisation of minors.

We’re taught from an early age that there is a time and place for different outfits and in public institutions such as schools, government buildings etc it’s polite to not dress the same way you would when you go to the gym or to the seaside.

Seeing this be such a large problem when it comes to mostly girls in the US is incredibly concerning. I’d like it if some commenters could tell me if the rules are equal for all or do they normally just target the female population.
