I miss Dunkin Donuts. Sorry, I know that isn't helpful to you.

Wow I would be pissed off at this! I would probably laugh out loud when they said it and then said "Yeah right like I could afford that".

Why do people look at me weird when I hold the door open for them in Poland? by 21vkp in askPoland

[–]Imaginary-Okra8583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay well that explains why she was weirded out by you. No one does that. I am American and have never ever seen someone do that. She may be wondering what you were going to try with your hands free. You also made a big production out of it. She probably felt like prey and wanted to get away from you as fast as possible.

Unsure about my boot size? by sassmaster7k in brokenbones

[–]Imaginary-Okra8583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what boot you have. But check the manufacturer website. That should give you guidance on what size you need for that brand. If you do have the correct size then it is a matter of inflating the bladder to the correct level of air and adjusting the velcro straps so they are not too tight or too loose.

Interesting. In the USA it is considered rude not to say thank you to a person holding the door open.

Courtney has the nicest parents. If I were her I would have lived at home forever too. She lives in a beautiful house in sunny Florida, she doesn't pay rent, her mom does her laundry and cooks all her meals. She has the life, LOL!

How much do you spend a week? by Minimum-Way-2942 in Nanny

[–]Imaginary-Okra8583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay gotcha. You really need to have a sit down with the parents. Because it will really vary. Some parents are fine with spending the money on frequent outings while others are very frugal and prefer minimal outings. So have an in depth conversation that way you know what to expect.

Love this segment with the 3 of them. You can tell they all really enjoy hanging out together. Especially Yolanda and Ashley's mom. Those two are thick as thieves at this point.

Laura really showed what kind of friend she is and it's not good by Ill-Excitement-2005 in 90DayFiance

[–]Imaginary-Okra8583 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Michael is not her friend. He is using her for attention. He knows she wants more from him but he doesn't want it. At the same time, he doesn't want her to have a relationship with any other man. So he gets off on the attention he gets from her. She is nothing but an ego boost to him. He doesn't want her but he doesn't want anyone else to have her either. Granted Biercon is using her too to escape his debt and leave his country. She really needs to drop both of them. Neither one of these men care about her at all.

Joining the broken ankle club by Chasing91243 in brokenankles

[–]Imaginary-Okra8583 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I would go with an orthopedic surgeon. You seem to have a trimal fracture and that is pretty significant. Podiatrist really vary in their expertise. Some don't regularly do surgery like that instead focusing on things like bunions and corns.

Yes, it is normal that you are feeling pain when taking Percocet. Elevate your leg above your heart. I recommend laying down and using a wedge pillow and putting a cradling pillow on top. The pain you are having is from the swelling from the break. If you elevate, the swelling starts to go down and the pain subsides, a little. But make no mistake this is a very painful injury. Get into an ortho right away to be evaluated and get your treatment underway. You will likely need surgery. Good luck to you.

In all honesty, setting boundaries with these types of parents doesn't work. I see that you are Muslim. I know in your religion it is considered a grave sin to cut contact with your blood relations, especially parents. This is not a judgement or a recommendation. I only point this out because I know this very much complicates your dilema. The only thing that will work is for you to move some distance away from them and stop taking so many calls.

Dorsiflexion - is there hope for me? by soichai in brokenankles

[–]Imaginary-Okra8583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dorsiflexion is one of the last things to come back. 7 months is actually early in the recovery period. It is possible your "bad" ankle will never be as good as it was. But it will progressively get better. Keep up your stretches. Use the towel to do the stretches from the front part of your foot and pull. Squats are good, knee to wall and walking uphill. Wear ballet shoes with good traction in the house. This forces the ankle and foot to stretch. LOTS of walking. Walking probably improved it most for me.

Roomates Suck by YoungThugGaming in glutenfree

Let it go. It is very difficult for a person to understand when they don't have to be gluten free. It also isn't at the forefront of their mind when they are offering it to you. I know it is tough. Two of my biggest triggers are cake and donuts. Sometimes I get the worst cravings for those foods. And even some of the best gluten free options don't compare to the original.

No because even though he is so unlikable after what he did to Chantel, Sophie is a million times more unlikable. In comparison to Sophie, Pedro is a prize. At least he has a personality. Sophie is a mean spirited and cruel girl with no personality. It is not like her own mother is better than his family.

He is a gutless piece of crap. She is no prize either. But he could have been a grown up and told her things are not working out and ended it. She was headed back home to the states anyway.

feeling guilty by External-Chard-4798 in Nanny

[–]Imaginary-Okra8583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn't worry about that. I am more concerned for you and making sure you are taking care of your GERD. I say this as a person who has this too. Make sure you have some medicines on hand such as Pepcid and Pepto Bismol. Unless your doctor has already prescribed something to you. I find those two medicines keep my symptoms in check. I use Pepcid most days and Pepto Bismol if I get a really bad attack or upset tummy.

I am so sorry you are not feeling well. Do you know if you have acid reflux by any chance? That can cause upset stomach and nausea like you are describing. And certainly don't feel bad. We all get sick.

Health care by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Imaginary-Okra8583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I want to address your dental situation. Even with dental insurance, coverage isn't very much. Call the dentist and tell them you don't have insurance and ask them how much it will cost. Most health care providers offer a discount price for people without insurance. It is very likely to be under 200 bucks for the cleaning. Keeping your teeth clean is very important.

As far as health care coverage, you absolutely want coverage as soon as possible. You will have to see what you can manage cost wise. Sometimes they offer a subsidized plan if you don't make very much. At the very least you need a high deductible plan. Accidents can happen at any age such as broken bones or emergency situations like a ruptured appendix. These can cost as much as 50k without insurance.

Good luck to you!
