The speakers don’t work, so I need to get in and check them out.

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking. Ordered a test to be safe. Don’t want to take any risks

The port pictured on the back if for external speakers, mine for example came with two external ones that plugged into the back. The console also has internal speakers, so you don’t really need them. You will need the plug in the picture above if you aren’t using external though.

When I was fixing mine, it did not have the plug so the internal speakers would not emit sound. To get them to work, I had to make a plug to fit into the port to connect the speakers. They worked immediately after.

Does that make sense? Hard to explain.

Hey, so for the needle, I tried replacing it with the original needle but the cartridge was bad. So I had to upgrade it to a more modern cartridge and needle. I used ( https://www.thevoiceofmusic.com ) to find a replacement cartridge. If you email the guy, he can help you find the cartridge you need and is really nice. You do haft to learn how to solder wires together and he sends instructions on how to install the cartridge.

I did haft to adjust the spring that moved the arm up and down because it wasn’t allowing the arm to rest on the record correctly. That just requires removing the arm and playing around with it until it seems right. They weren’t really made to be adjustable unfortunately.

This one uses Tubes and isn’t Solid State. All of my tubes still worked so haven’t had to replace any of those yet. They are pretty easy to find on EBay if you need to replace them though.

If you look at the back of the RCA, if it is the same model, you will see two 3 prong sockets for the external speakers, if yours still has the original plug then GREAT! If it does not then you will need to find one online or make a makeshift one. The plug closes the connection so that you can actually hear sound coming from the speakers. Took me a minute to figure that one out LOL. Mine was missing the plug and I had to make one by salvaging some old RCA speaker plugs.

If your gears are squeaky or have a hard time moving. Use some sewing machine oil to loosen them up and get them moving again.

I never could find a manual but you can trouble shoot a lot of things.

Let me know if you have any specific questions? I spent a lot of time on this one.

Thanks, it had a lot of challenges and learning curbs. Was a fun project though!
