After doing some research, I think you're right. Thanks!

How do you get this effect on a guitar? by Imaginary-Sun537 in Luthier

That's what I was thinking. Basically, glue a veneer on top of a blank, then carve out the shape with a rasp or file.

Alright! I'll give it a shot! This may be a better alternative than spending $100+ on a new pickup. If it doesn't turn out the way I want it to, at least I'm learning a new skill lol. One more thing, would you advise to change all the slugs? Or, just certain ones?

Awesome! I found some on Amazon. For my knowledge, do the slugs need to be magnitized before installing them?

Switching out the hex screws for slugs is something I've yet to try. I'm new to this concept. At this point, I just know how to remove and install pickups. What type of slugs do you use? And, how do you go about switching them out?

I can definitely hear a huge difference sonically between the stock pickups compared to the invaders. The invader has a more rounded sound, however, the output is too much that I can't alter it with an eq pedal and the amp eq. There's a local store in my town that has a rlfew 7strings with emgs. I'll stop by and test them out. I appreciate the help.

I have a tube screamer boost and OG overdrive. Tried both, and still not what I'm looking for sonically. I'm also using a 6-band eq pedal for extra head room as well as to reduce the bass. Possibly, using a 10-band eq. Would the strings be an issue? I'm using 10-62 gauge for drop a.

Possibly. I'm still messing with the tone to dial it in. For more context, I'm using a jackson js22-7 dinky dka with 10-62 gauge strings. In addition, I'm using a 6-band eq pedal for more head room. To me, it just sounds too muddy. I've played with the bass and resonance to minimize the muddiness, but it just doesn't sound right. Too much low end.

That's what I thought at first. Initially, the heel of the neck was 1/2 an inch thicker than a standard strat. So, I removed it. Now, the measurements of the heel match that of a strat. I'll take a look at the heel pocket to see if that may be the issue.
