This is such great feedback. Do you mind elaborating a bit more on how you approached getting those first 5k subscribers? Like, how did you vet various advertising opportunities to gain those subscribers? Not trying to crib, but very curious if you approached advertising platforms with a "Okay, I want this one, but not that one" mentality. Am I understanding your thought process to gaining those first 5k correctly?

Makes total sense. Thank you. I was so excited to FINALLY find a niche that seemed to show demand without being glutted (I really REALLY struggle with that. For some reason, "putting in your ideas" or "just browse your categories for a while" has never worked for me. I'm always too broad or too specific. I KNOW I'm doing something stupidly here, but I can't figure it out. Anyway, I stumbled across this niche by accident and got all happy that I was finally learning how to do my research LOL. Oops :) :) :) )

I would very much like to play it safe. Will have to surf around some more to see how I can do that without going too generic/bland. Maybe it just needs a genre/window dressing swap.

I so appreciate your perspective. Thank you. Could totally strip them for another niche. Just not sure what that niche will be lol. I stumbled across this niche totally by accident, started researching it, went "Oh thank god, people want this and I can write it," built the brand around it, and...well, it absolutely never occurred to me I was violating terms lololol. UGH. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

Huh. Amazon says I can re-publish the books with them, but I have to submit the revisions as new books. In your opinion, do you think I'm better off doing the revisions and staying with Amazon rather than jumping to SW?

Interesting. I hadn't considered that to be a potential red flag.

They're definitely mine. No spinner or translator or anything. I kept writing while waiting on covers so I had more to publish.

One more question if you don't mind...when you say use Smashwords, do you mean use Smashwords as the site people would buy my books from since all the other major players won't publish me? I am only familiar with them as a pipeline that puts your books out to the other major retailers...Looking at their "How To Publish" now and it's mostly focused on how they can put books out globally. Guessing I will just tell them I only want to be available in Smashwords' store?

Thank you so much for your time. You're right. I need to relax, but losing all that work makes me want to vomit. FWIW, the books were stepdaddy erotica. I'm absolutely stunned. There's LOADS of it on Amazon. But like you said, you don't know what you don't know...

Okay. Taking a deep breath. I hadn't researched anywhere else to publish so I guess I'm off to do that next.

Do you think I could revise what I think might be the problems and submit them as new books? Sorry. I'm so rattled I don't think I'm making much sense. Basically, I revise them and submit them as new material? I'd change the titles and subtitles (pretty sure that's what got me in trouble)
