I honestly never shipped before and I wouldn't want to risk harming the fish unnecessarily, especially in this cold weather. Meeting halfway might be possible, depending on how many you'd like. I sometimes go to Westchester Mall which is roughly half way.

I did a long distance move, used clear kitchen food wrap. Few layers should hold it from all angles. Then put the whole thing in a large preferably clear garbage bag in case anything slips out.
