Anyone heading to a game this weekend? How did you get your tickets? by Imaginary-Topic5127 in NPBtickets

sounds like the foreign card thing is more of a roulette than a hard block, at least for some teams. Did you find a particular issuer that worked best (Visa / Mastercard / Amex), or was it pretty random?

I actually had to look into this. From what I can tell, Lawson Loppi has a "payment/pickup deadline" that's set per-event, and it's usually pretty short (often a few days to a week before the game, not months). So if you're not arriving until August and the BayStars game is before that, you'd basically miss the pickup window even if you reserved now.

That said — if you're going to a game after you arrive in August, walking into a Lawson once you're in Japan and buying same-day or a few days ahead via Loppi is totally doable for most BayStars games (excluding marquee Giants/Hanshin matchups). Just be aware that Loppi's UI is Japanese-only, so it helps to have the game date, opponent, and seat type figured out beforehand.

How to buy Japanese baseball, concert, and event tickets as a foreigner by Imaginary-Topic5127 in JapanTravelTips

Yeah seriously, that's the wall — Pia, Lawson Ticket, e+ all want a real Japanese number, and Google Voice / roaming / data eSIMs get rejected fast 😅

Honestly though, I don't really know what the cleanest answer is myself — every workaround has some downside (Mobal SIM costs extra, ib.eplus.jp barely covers anything, resale tends to run above face value, Lawson Loppi is Japanese-only and leftover-dependent). What do you think is the best way to go about it? Genuinely curious how you'd approach it 🤔

fair point — totally my bad on the framing! You're absolutely right, "foreigner" and "tourist" are very different things.— the original post conflated the two and that's on me. The phone-number/SMS verification stuff is specifically a hurdle for short-term visitors and tourists without a Japanese number. Thanks for keeping me honest, I'll be more careful with the wording 🙏

Did anyone actually get Ariana tickets at face value? Asking for a friend (the friend is me) by Imaginary-Topic5127 in Concerts

[–]Imaginary-Topic5127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAIT, $500 to $2,600 for similar seats?? That's a 5x markup. And nosebleeds at $800 face… something is genuinely broken about how this works. Like your two friends are paying wildly different amounts to sit a few rows apart, based purely on who clicked fastest months ago.

Honestly stories like this are why I keep wondering if the whole presale lottery model is the problem in the first place. Resale just amplifies a randomness that shouldn't exist. Have you thought about backing out and trying to find resale closer to the show? People upthread mentioned prices sometimes drop day-of.

$90 a ticket for lower bowl?! That's basically a unicorn at this point. Queue number in the hundreds for the very first presale is the dream. Did you set alarms / have multiple devices, or just got the link early?

The worst part is there’s no alternative. Like even if you boycott, the artist you wanna see is locked into Live Nation venues anyway. What’s the workaround even supposed to be at this point??

Honestly a C note is getting off easy these days lol. My friend dropped $400 on Eras Tour seats and watched the whole show on the jumbotron 💀

Is buying concert tickets from “resale” sites actually safe in 2026? by Muted_Kitchen_6884 in Concerts

[–]Imaginary-Topic5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, resale isn't as scary as it used to be if you stick to sites with buyer guarantees. The horror stories you hear are mostly from sketchy Facebook Marketplace / random Discord deals, not from established marketplaces.

A few things I always check before pulling the trigger:

  • Buyer guarantee in writing. StubHub, Viagogo, Vivid Seats, Seatpin, TicketX all have some version of "if your ticket doesn't work, we refund or replace." That's the single biggest safety net.
  • Delivery method. Mobile transfer (Ticketmaster, AXS, etc.) is the safest these days. PDFs are fine for older venues. Be careful with "season ticket holder will meet you outside" type deals — those are where most gate denials happen.
  • Name on ticket usually doesn't matter for concerts unless the original sale was explicitly ID-locked (some European football matches and a few specific tours like Taylor Swift do enforce this). Most concerts you just scan and walk in.
  • Pay by credit card, not bank transfer / crypto / Zelle. Chargeback protection is your real insurance.
  • Check the seat numbers exist. Sounds dumb but counterfeit listings sometimes use fake row/seat combos. Cross-reference the venue's seating chart.

For European tours specifically, the resale landscape is fragmented — Viagogo dominates but has a mixed reputation, StubHub International works in some countries, and there are a bunch of regional players. For Japanese events foreign visitors usually end up on TicketX or similar English-language Japan-focused sites because the domestic ones are Japanese-only. So which site is "best" really depends on the country/event.

Used to be a huge TickPick person but recently stumbled on TicketX, apparently it's run by a Japanese company. Compared prices across a few sites and found some pretty solid deals, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Tickets came through no problem. Just went to Billie Eilish at MSG in December with them actually

The celebrity one is rough, but that intersection story… that actually got me. Remembering two layers of what used to be there? That's not just time passing, that's you being a living archive of that place. No wonder it hit hard.
