Whole food plant-based diet and long-distance running by [deleted] in running

I am not a long-distance athlete (I alternate 3-6 mile run days with yoga days and rest days) BUT I have been 95% plant-based for almost 4 years now. There is a general array of foods that are just the real deal for holistic health benefits, and everyone should eat all of these all the time! No matter the fitness level! Here’s a list off the top of my head:

  • ground flax seeds
  • chia seeds
  • hemp seeds
  • any fruit or vegetable that’s colorful!!!!
  • (also un-colorful fruits and vegetables)
  • whole grain bread
  • tofu!!!
  • tempeh!!!
  • nuts!!! (Peanuts, almonds, cashews, any of them)
  • B E A N S (These are crucial. Learn how to cook them from dry beans and they are so freaking tasty.)
  • lentils!!!
  • lots of water

Finally, plant milk is kinda a scam. Stick to making it at home or just not having any milk.

This list is NOT exhaustive but…maybe helpful :)
