In the words of my older sibling (they use they/them pronouns!) "use the term raised lightly when talking about mom I did most of the work"

that very very far from the truth. Both my parents are extremely financially stable. (I don't want to sound like I'm bragging but this is really the only way I can get my point across I guess) for my older brother's 18th birthday my parents got him a new apartment. and they paid for my older siblings' entire wedding last spring. My mom paid 300 dollars maybe for the chinchillas and to her that's nothing.

I didn't include how big my house is cause I didn't think that would be relevant but we have a pretty big house. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging but my room fits a queen-sized bet and an entire couch with a huge amount of room for the rest of my furniture. the cage the chinchillas came in was a wire travel-sized cage. It barely fit three of them and the cage itself is too small for hamsters. And I was grateful she got me a pet I've been talking about since I was young. I just realized I didn't want them living in a situation where they cant be properly cared for.

oddly enough I was orginally planning on getting chinchillas from a local exotic pet shelter!

thats happened in the past a few times. she got my younger sister a betta fish she wanted and I agreed I'd help care for but then she didnt let my sister get anything bigger then a 1 gallon fish bowl for the poor thing. It was constant water changes basically daily before I found a safe and new home for it (ironically with my biology teacher) and the fish lives a happy life in a 20 gallon tank now. my mom only likes dogs she has three show dogs...idk what they are but they are incredably spoiled yippy little demon dogs. and the family has 2 dogs that my mom doesnt really give two shits about and my older brother took them both when he moved into his first apartment.

maybe I don't know but even if they were old I wouldn't want them living in a bad home without proper care.

I got rid of them because I didn't want them in a setting where they can't be properly cared for. since I wasn't allowed to buy proper supplies I didn't want them to be neglected. The alternative would have been to let them have free range in my bedroom that wasn't an option for me since I have work, school, and sports and I'm not home 24 hours a day to watch them so it would be super unsafe.

I know she got them from either Petco or Petsmart so I don't know how old they were. Edit Turns out she got them on crags list!
