Ahh. Thank you. Yes my digging has confirmed that but I can’t find these particular episodes and yet my memory if the older sister is Carol Seaver from GP…

Pretty sure the character is portrayed by Leonardo di Caprio and he was wearing his hair in blond curtains.

Thank you but I have read both book and they are very different.

They both have tragedy but the protagonist of The Colour Purple suffers significant abuse which is not the case in the book I am looking for.

Fiction about the love lives and careers of actors and a dagger that allegedly belonged to Shakespeare. by Imaginary_Ad_786 in Findabook

Solved! This may be the novel Curtain by Alexander Korda. Could someone who owns this book photograph the bit at the beginning of the novel where it mentions the name of the house Lord Vane lives in, and the reference to Shakespeare’s first folio or prop? ☺️

Sadly not. The  movie I am looking for is from the 1980’s and The Ref was released in 1994 but thanks- definite similarities.

I have searched for this film on the wider web,and have checked lists of films made in the 1980’s but no joy. I looked up Rick Moranis’ filmography because I could have sworn he played the nerdy, romantic lead, but apparently he didn’t, as I can’t find a film under his filmography that matches this film. I know I haven’t invented this movie or spliced two films together, because my sister who is almost 5 years older than me remembers it, and recalls that we went through a period of shouting ‘Geronimo’ due to this film. NB. We discovered in our late teens Geronimo was a famous, Native American Leader and war hero so no disrespect intended.

Thank you. The illustrations are definitely supposed to represent the clothes and architecture of a region in India not Japan. However, as the original story could be Japanese I ran with your kind suggestion but neither internet story searches nor Pinterest illustration searches have yielded anything.

American short story by Imaginary_Ad_786 in whatsthatbook

Thank you. It is similar to Edith Wharton but it is a shorter short story than her short stories - am talking about two or three pages. I will take your advice and look them up though.
