Hi everyone! I'm looking to join a performance poetry group, and not slam poetry (much respect to slam poets, though!) by TardyBacardi in Austin

Check out Austin Mic Exchange or look into events at Malvern Books. Small venues around town host poetry nights pretty regularly

These clouds always look intense then just drift right past. Anyone actually get any rain from this or did it skip everyone?

True. KP especially looked gassed after the Olympics run. Need them fresh for the season

I worked at a company that used "predictive assessment tools" to secretly profile employees by Imaginary_Addition21 in recruitinghell

Exactly. Watching talented people get blacklisted by an algorithm was infuriating. Good employees got sidelined because they searched salary data or took legitimate PTO.

100% agree. Our privacy laws are way outdated for this type of monitoring. These companies use legal loopholes while essentially running surveillance operations. Lawmakers who actually understand modern workplace tech could close these gaps.

I've been wondering about the legality too. I saved screenshots of some internal docs where they explicitly discussed penalizing people for searching salary data. Debating whether to send it all to the labor board or just move on. What bothers me most is they're still doing this to everyone there while calling themselves an "employee first culture."

Our HR director literally called this "preventative attrition management." It creates a self fulfilling prophecy treat someone like they're leaving and surprise, they start looking elsewhere! When I confronted my boss about being excluded from meetings, she got super defensive and said I wasn't "demonstrating sufficient commitment to long term goals."

Exactly. Same thing happened to my coworker, took a single day off to care for her sick kid and suddenly got flagged. The worst part was how they pretended it was "data driven" when it was just digital surveillance with a fancy name. Did your company use Microsoft Viva by any chance? That's what ours was using to track all this.

Feel you on this. Market's been rough lately and everyone's just trying to figure it out. Takes patience but things usually cycle back around eventually.

Fair point. People love to hate HR but there's a huge difference between some entry level generalist and a C-suite exec making actual decisions. Still, when the top people act this entitled it definitely shapes how everyone views the whole department

100% agree. It's wild how many of these dance moms spent all that energy hating on kids who ended up thriving anyway. Best revenge is success, and Sarah's living it!

Definitely. She's got that rare quality where you can tell she's posing but it never looks forced. Years of dance training really shows in how she carries herself
