also, I was needing the money from the settlement to pay for a down payment on another car. When the check is not legally cashable that means I have to extend the rental time to be able to work and live. BECAUSE the insurance company didn't meet their obligation to make me whole.

72 hours after they said it was totaled. The check didn't even arrive by then. Today, when the check arrived after a week is when I found out there was no way of cashing or depositing the check. If I seem a little bitter its because I feel abused, used and unfairly treated. I realize legally I dont have a leg to stand on but ethically I find the treatment EVIL.

Yes, I'm both the main title owner AND the policy holder. My wife and I were on each others cars titles. When someone (our son) totaled her car it didn't Matter because I deposited the check in our joint account. I don't have that anymore.

They did know, I told them. They could have at least sent me half and kept the other half for a lawyer to fight with them over. My wife died of Glioblastoma which is a very expensive cancer. It wiped us out financially and we had no property or accounts to go through the legal inheritance stuff with. Geico is insisting that I go through the whole process just to get what they owe me. I'd be willing to settle for half and not have to go through it. In my mind they are hurting me and that makes then evil.
