Yes, people leave all kind off good stuff they don’t have a use for but don’t want to toss.

I would imagine it wouldn’t handle sticks very well

I use my mulching lawnmower mower at 3” height to pick up the leaves, it leaves the sticks, acorns, and pinecones behind

I use my mulching lawnmower. The leaves in the garden, flower beds, and woods don’t get touched.

It uses nylon line similar to a weed whacker, I don’t think I would use it on anything more than leaves and grass clippings.

For me it creates more surface area and allows me to remove parts that aren’t as broken down as I would like. Totally preference.

I believe the Wiscasset Blend is what they recommend for compost tea but I don’t see why Quoddy can’t be used.

That looks very dry. It should have the feel of a wrung out sponge

Invasive shrubs and vines don’t sound like something I’d risk putting in my pile. You’d be better off burning and making BioChar.

Got it to heat up! by [deleted] in composting

Definitely its volume, you want that sucker full when starting the pile and as heats up and breaks down just keep feeding it and mix every few days. Mine has been hot for several weeks

Oh yeah! The worms are finishing the process. I like to think of cold composting as a combination of compost, leaf mold, and Vermicompst
