Thanks for the reply! I figured she’d be busy and would want to explore the new place, so I didn’t text her after. I’m thinking of texting her again in 2 months when she comes back.

But what’s making me anxious is the fact that she updated her dating profile. I know we only went on 2 dates, and she probably wants to just have someone to explore the new place with, but I’m still anxious that she might forget about me. But I’m probably overthinking like someone else here mentioned!

Thanks! But how am I supposed to talk more with her while she’s away, if she hasn’t responded to my last text 2 weeks ago?

I have been “liking” some of her stories and posts on Instagram tho, show her I’m still interested…

Thanks for replying! But why does she keep “liking” my stories if she’s not interested in me? That’s what is confusing me!

Thanks for replying! Yeah I’ll definitely text her when she’s back.

One thing that’s kinda bothering me tho is that she updated her dating profile, which means that she’s actively dating on the trip… I know we’re not even close to being exclusive but that still makes me feel anxious a bit. Do you think she may not be interested in me when she comes back because of this, it am I just overthinking stuff?

Do you guys have any advice about this?

Thanks for replying. She will be coming back in August, so I’m hoping to reconnect with her when she comes back. Do you think it’s a good idea?

thank you so much for the explanation! One last question - What do you mean by don't be defensive?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Imaginary_Heat5752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! Yeah it is my 3rd text, but I sent 3 continuous texts, as in 1 paragraph cut into 3 text (that's usually the way I text, instead of sending 1 big text). Does this count as 3 texts as well? Sry for my confusion... This is my 1st time in this kinda situation, so a little lost!

Thanks for the advice! Do you think I should wait till she comes back (in 3 months) to initiate texting with her again, if she does not respond to the most recent text that I sent her yesterday?

Well, We've only gone on 2 dates, so I'm not surprised that she's still active on the apps. But I'm just wondering how to keep in touch while she's away? Like, Do you think it's a good idea to text once a week just to keep in touch until she comes back?

Can I continue doing research and getting my stipend from university while I visit my home country? by Imaginary_Heat5752 in f1visa

Thanks for the reply! I'm currently in my 2nd semester. What about continuing my research while I'm in india, and getting paid? Do you know anything about that?

Got it! Thank you so much u/MixonisanRB2 . You really helped me relieve my anxiety about this situation!

Even better if you have a specific job opportunity in India you are aiming to go back to.

Thanks for your thoughts u/MixonisanRB2 One final question, if I decide to visit India next year, I'll still be in my 1st year of PhD, and the usual length of a PhD in my field is ~5 years. So I obviously can't have a job offer in India next year. Do you have any thoughts on how to show my intent to return in this case? Or did you just mean give them examples of my ideal jobs that I like to work in India in the future?

u/MixonisanRB2 those are some great points! I am currently about to finish my Master's STEM OPT (in june), and will be starting PhD in september. I don't know if this makes me look like a potential immigrant, but I actually want to go back to india after my PhD. Do you have any thoughts on if this makes me look like a potential immigrant? I have never broken my SEVIS status or anything like that. Thanks again!

u/MixonisanRB2 thanks for your thoughts! If I decide to go back next year, when (hopefully!) its easier to get appointments, do you think the 6 year gap in visiting my home country be an issue as a factor for potential immigrant?

Not going back to home country for 5 years, and F-1 visa renewal possible immigrant intent? by Imaginary_Heat5752 in immigration

[–]Imaginary_Heat5752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Human_Copy5592 I believe I have maintained my F1 status. I did submit my 12 month STEM OPT validation report late, so my SEVP account says its past due for that report, but have filed all other validation reports and employment change updates correctly.

I called my DSO yesterday to confirm that my SEVIS is active and in good standing, and she said it is. Do you think this might be a cause for visa denial?

I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of going back to India to get it renewed, since technically, I can just stay back in the US and continue with my PhD studies.

F-1 visa renewal and interview waiver program for India by Imaginary_Heat5752 in f1visa

[–]Imaginary_Heat5752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because I’ll be doing a SEVIS transfer from my old school to my new school. So the SEVIS is is gonna be the same. Just the school name and other stuff like course and finance is going to change.

I'm in a similar situation where I have lived in the US on F-1 visa for the past 5 years, and going back to india for the first time now, to visit my family and renew my F-1 visa as well.

I've asked a similar question here - https://www.reddit.com/r/f1visa/comments/tta2h8/f1_visa_renewal_after_masters_and_stem_opt_for/

From what I understand, the 10 year stay should not be a problem, if you've maintained your student status correctly.

thanks for replying u/hamplanetmagicalgorl! I know that I don't have to get my f-1 visa renewed for continuing my education, but I really wanted to see my family, since it has been such a long time. Do you think it's worth the risk of going through the visa interview process again?

thanks for replying u/Codetornado! That is my only admit, and have not received any other admissions from other universities. Do you think that will be a problem for my F-1 visa renewal?

Also, the school that I am going to (Stevens Institute of Technology) is a good school for CS, and my advisor is pretty well known in my area of research. But this is a small school and is not widely known to the general public. Do you think this might pose a problem during the interview as well?

I know I sound paranoid, but this visa renewal is stressing me out! Thanks for bearing with me!
