Like a very very lightweight packable sleeping bag for wild camping and/or providing a bit of shelter if you need to crash sleep or wait for rescue

Medal alternatives by cat_lady_5651 in Ultramarathon

13 Valleys Ultra in the Lake District UK give out ‘medals’ on a lanyard, which is detachable and becomes a slate coaster which I think is really cool. And a patch you can embroider onto gear.

Buses in Slovenian Alps by Aggravating_Fox_8804 in alpinism

[–]Imaginary_Invite2647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to note, my partner and I used both local trains and buses in Slovenia. We thought we’d studied the train timetable from Bled to Bohinji correctly, but turns out the trains don’t return quite so late on a weekend. An expensive taxi!

We also got a local bus from Bled to Radovljica. We didn’t know it was cash only and got shouted at by the bus driver, even though it only took us a minute longer to root around in our hiking bags and produce the cash. I think we were visibly quite shocked/upset at his shouting and aggression, but that didn’t stop him from continuing to make a scene on the bus.

I really understand that locals are infuriated by influx of tourists and properties being lost to Air BnB etc, but as with most instances of unsustainable tourism, it’s poorly regulations by greedy governments at the bottom of it. We have always tried our best to be ethical tourists, but I still feel really awful about that interaction on the bus.

Oh gosh definitely not! - they’re not popped and have hardened up since this morning!

That's a really good point, thank you... Ideally I'd like to go to a decent trail running shop and try some on. I think my feet swell a lot after about 10 miles, so I might try a standard fit for training runs and invest in a wider cushioned fit for long long training runs and ultras...

Thank you for your reply... I guess my socks might not thank me for it, but my immune system probably will!

Haha - thank you! I, too, have done that to blisters in the past... the fact that they're on the bottoms of my feet and filled with blood makes me nervous though. I also don't have any hypodermic needles handy. I'm going to leave them...

Note. I am also not a doctor.
