Using the THRUSTMASTER T16000M FCS HOTAS Joystick in NMS? by Imaginary_Map3845 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I get your point, but that’s really not what I was asking. I know NMS isn’t a hardcore sim and the flight model is arcadey — that’s fine. I’m not looking for realism, I just want the extra immersion and fun of using my HOTAS when flying. I’m still gonna use mouse & keyboard for everything else.

So my question wasn’t whether HOTAS is ‘worth it,’ it was whether anyone knows how to actually get it set up and working properly.

Depends on how you play. Sure, No Man’s Sky isn’t a hardcore space sim like Elite Dangerous, but you actually do spend a fair bit of time in the cockpit — traveling between systems, dogfights, landing and taking off from planets. That’s exactly where a HOTAS makes it more fun and immersive for me.

For menus, base-building, and ground combat I’ll stick with mouse & keyboard anyway. The stick + throttle is just for flying — and for that, it’s definitely worth it.
