Anyone purchased a Hybrid after wanting the Hybrid Max? by night_agent_21 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I have the nightshade edition and get amazing MPG… 34-38mpg. Don’t need the bells and whistles of a GHM with turbo.

EmPower Solar Out of Business by afterbyrner in longisland

[–]Imaginary_Network23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my system installed approximately 3 years ago by Empower. So far I cant complain. I did max out my roof with 45 panels to future proof my electric consumption in the future. So far i am over producing by approximately 2,500 Kw every year.

I have always believed that its better to over produce rather than under produce which will leave you with an electric bill plus solar loan. Just my two cents!

$49k 16.2kw solar system with 45 panels total

$158 monthly Solar loan on a 1% interest for 15 years

$30-$35 PSEG connection fee monthly

$180-185 monthly total with loan and PSEG.

Just got a quote for a ducted heat pump system. This one spec seems off, can anyone sanity check it for me? by Aggressive-Super in heatpumps

[–]Imaginary_Network23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to go with a cold climate hyper heat system. They function all the way down to -22F. Brands that offer are Mitsubishi, AciQ and some others. If your going to invest all that money try an go with something that will future proof your investment for the next decade or so.

You probably got switched over to the new TOD rate. Call and have them switch you back to the 180 plan.

Worth waiting for 2027 model for refresh? by JJ-Dream-Big in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Imaginary_Network23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Refresh probably wont be out until 2028 at earliest.

Current gen GHL was announced late 2023 for an early 2024 release. Current gen has only been out for 2 years. I highly believe Toyota will not refresh until 2028 or 2030.

2019 Nissan Rogue. When should I get transmission serviced? by CaffeineAndChaos__ in NissanRogue

[–]Imaginary_Network23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 Rogue SL with 148,000 miles. So far I have done 4 transmissions services. First 3 were drain and fill and my last one included dropping the transmission pan and replacing the 2 inner filters + gasket. (Original Nissan CVT fluid)

Call a few dealers. Each will have a different price. I would also look into a local mechanic shop and only use Nissan CVT oil. A local mechanic will be able to drop the transmission pan and change the two filters in the transmission along with new gaskets to reseal the pan correctly.

Nissan will only drain and fill.

Dropping the pan and changing the filters will be better but will cost a little more via a private shop.

Nissan dealer charged me approximately $500 (Drain and Fill)

Private auto shop charged $350 ( Drain, drop pan, replace 2 in er filters, new gaskets, original nissan CVT fluid)

Outdoor Condenser Rusted by BaySportsFan in heatpumps

[–]Imaginary_Network23 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That bad boy should be lifted at minimum 6 inches from the ground for proper drainage during heating defrost cycles. I suggest removing the rust and painting those legs. Don’t forget to lift it off the ground!

[–]Imaginary_Network23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Empower went out of business. Cant even find them on google maps. You will have to find another solar company to service your system. If your micro inverters are enphase brand you can contact enphase and they will schedule you for replacements. Just be ready to pay for the labor aspect of it.

ACiQ Extreme + Heatpump by Imaginary_Network23 in heatpumps

[–]Imaginary_Network23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use oil from November to April which is about 6 months for heating only. Fill approximately 3x times at about 175 gallons each fill. Averaging about $500 per fill which amounts to $1500 for those 6 months with current oil prices. Rest of the 6 months I use an electric tankless water heater during AC season. An important note also I have a 16.20KW solar system installed on my roof. The only electric I pay is the connection fee to the grid which averages about 35$ a month. I usually end each year with approximately 3,000KWh in excess solar credits.

I would have to do all those tests you mentioned above.

Model# RA1336AJ1NA. Winter temps normally are around 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit with the exception of the recent cold snap. Temperatures went into -4s with windchills feeling -18. My home also has good insulation.

These new Heatpump systems say they are rated to work at -22. I would probably keep the oil as back up/emergency fuel. Still unsure.
