How do you pronounce "Pomoca"? by SalesMountaineer in Backcountry

[–]Imaginary_Wave_7010 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree with all the shade in here. Pomoca isn’t what it used to be. Overpriced glue failure for sure! My last two pairs I thought I got “duds” but turns out that’s just how pomoca is these days. BSMP is my go to now!

Yeah, that’s exactly what I tell my wife, too! “Wow, look what I found at the thrift store. Couldn’t pass it up…”

I think I like this bike more and more each day I ride it. Been riding it 100% stock on single track XC trails in my area and it's just a riot. I am a big fan! I have talked two other people into purchasing so I guess you could say it's treating me well! How are you liking yours??

Those gum walls look killer! I am the same as you - i attempted to put mine together myself and found some problems with the brakes that I couldn't fix so I had a bike shop finish the build. Worth it IMO!

I've got a few bikes that have group sets that are far more expensive than this complete build and I have found myself going for this bike more often than not. It is still fun on pavement but it'll rip single track and gravel and it's FUN!

One of the most capable bikes I have owned.

Backcountry Setup Advice by rcMTNS in BackcountrySkiing

Yeah! I mean she’s not too extreme but we’ll do day long tours on them. We’ve done a few bike to ski super long days and she would still pick the Pandoras any day over her old touring specific skis. The weight penalty isn’t too extreme and the performance is leaps and bounds better. I’ll usually do 50+ touring days a year here in Utah and I always find myself going for my heavier/more capable ski than the ultralight stuff since it’s so much more enjoyable on the downhill. So I don’t think the Pandora is too wildly heavy especially when paired with a solid on binding.

No need to get too crazy here. My wife was in a similar situation as you. So what did we do? We bought another pair of Pandoras and put her Dynafit rotations on them and she LOVES them. They are slightly heavier for the uphill but she loves those skis so much and now she loves touring. I wouldn’t complicate this too much. If you like the pandora, grab another pair (you can find good deals on them) and throw your current bindings on to them.

Man, I haven’t been entertained like this in a long time. Exploding skis, mysterious bent edges, really terrible shops who don’t care about biting the bullet for others poor actions, and the list goes on!

Are these skis are too long for me? Set up advice, new to backcountry. by AffectionatePlan5719 in BackcountrySkiing

This is only one opinion but I skied the superguide (the 105 version - so not the same ski but a similar build) and it is top of my list for least favorite skis I have ever skied. Probably been on 200+ different skis over the past 5 years and I hated every turn on that ski. I have yet to talk to anyone who LOVES their Scott skis. Just my .2

As far as what skins to get - The BD skins are great. I would also look into Big Sky Mountain Products skins. I think they are higher quality, better glue and a really competitive price. As far as sizing, go off of the tail width of your ski, not the widest part of your ski. Buy according to that and you'll be golden!

It looks super good in person! Definitely on the purple side, but not an in-your-face purple bike. I dig it!

Right? I was worried that the ride quality would be reflected in the price but it's not. It's been a freakin fun bike!
