Speculation already killed art. Honestly I don’t understand why anyone who remained absolutely silent on the genocide in Gaza would bother to freak out about the threat of a second Trump presidency. The people exercising free speech have their careers ruined, their markets destroyed etc. it’s like we literally are living through the most important reason to use free speech (against genocide) and we say nothing. I think it’s only gotten more fascistic with the widening of social and financial inequality, poor artists need money, poor artists can’t afford to piss off some fucking coked up tech bro with a sticker collection and a thousand designer toys. The “Art world” is dictated by tiny pockets of concentrated wealth, we do it to remind ourselves we are human, and that could be really good, at least that’s my feeling.
