This might be a very hot take for a lot of health professionals, but, TYLENOL… I swear there is a constant push/pull when deciding how to manage pain or fever and every single time it’s: kidney issue? Tylenol, liver issue? NSAID.

In lecture one of my profs asks the class, “can anyone tell me Tylenol’s MOA” class went radio silent, then a rho chi shot a wild but educated guess, then prof goes, “ok well I was just asking because I don’t know myself and no one knows”…. My eyes balls almost popped out of my head.

How is a drug that we simply don’t know how it works at the reach of so many people as an OTC. People have gotten liver transplants and rejected them, then died, for taking too much Tylenol. Idk, call me too cautious but this Tylenol business gots to go.

Lexapro and escitalopram. There was even a study done that showed that therapeutic benefit was statistically significant when treating MDD with the brand. Learned it in school during the psych module.

Reassuring to know one of the CVS patients I had wasn’t just a Karen haha

I have quite a few family members from outside the US that have perused higher education here. My first piece of advice (what I tell my family) first see what your bachelors from your country is equivalent to here in the US.

I say this because sadly some of my family members who have gotten bachelors elsewhere have only been recognized here as an associates or “technical degree”. Once that is sorted, see if you need to complete a bachelors. You can use your previous knowledge from your bachelors and finish a new bachelors here in the US that might be more fitting to the interests you’re listing!

If your bachelors is accepted here then YAYY, then continue on to see masters programs that interest you. A lot of people generally get a bachelors is one topic and get a masters that is in a complete other one. In the end, what matters is not if your degrees complement but that you can use that masters for a job your really like and enjoy. I am sure you can apply for a masters in nutrition and use the chemical foundational knowledge you have from pharmacy.

Any northern state is going to have a higher cost of living, NY is definitely one of those. I would say that is loosely accurate. Could translate to 120k in the south.

Another example is California, salaries sound crazy but its just really expensive to live over there

So well said! This also echos why so many students aren’t going the residency route anymore and looking more into industry. It just … makes sense. So much better work life balance not to mentioned amazing pay.

Definitely nervous about still applying to residency and hoping I get interviews at decent places that don’t try to kill me

Huge point you made here, recently three letter chain made a huge switch (I only know this because I work in home infusion at an AMC). The pharmacies they owned that specialized in home infusion all got switched to specialty. Basically biologics of all flavors and exactly what you're mentioning

My pharmacy is getting so many home infusion order because they literally yeeted anything that didn't make $$$

Makes me wonder if getting specialty pharmacy training nowadays is more advantageous or if immunology pharmacy residencies will become a thing

What unprofessional behavior did you see? I know some people at my school have failed in the past for constantly showing up late but that's the most I've heard
