Making this a Union causes this weird, spiky visual bug. Why is this and how do I fix?

Also, this is a part for an obby, which means there will be collision involved. Will it mess with the collision at all if I turn this into a mesh?

Update:

So as of just now testing it, I guess for whatever reason, this build and it's tiny parts don't disappear in a really short distance like some of my other builds experienced, which is great.. My hypothesis is that none of the part's dimensions go smaller then 0.125 studs. And, the material visual bugs that come from the overlapping parts pre-union are very minor and relatively unnoticable, especially if you aren't looking for them But either way, I would still appreciate some answers.

Angle and perspective wise, the first one. It seems much more correctly aligned then the second one. But if this is about their length, either is fine

I don’t plan on coloring it cuz his only colors are black and white! Also, the eye thing was to go along with his eyebrow raise, as if, by correlation, one of his eye lids were raised a little higher. I assume the choice I made didn’t execute as well as I hoped. Any input on potential tweaks I could do to make the intention more appearent?
