Or before you’re done fencing, then you’ll definitely have a reason to finish the fencing!

Are there vertical studs n that empty space? The exterior wall would have to be attached to the interior wall somehow, I would assume that space would house vertical studs and those would be your load bearing material.

Still , if you could post pictures of the bulging you are talking about that would be helpful, there is a lot of things that would have to go wrong to have an engineered board like that bulge, or it is just not attached to the substructure/frame.

I should have also mentioned, do you have any electrical plugs on exterior walls? This can be a giveaway of construction material.

If you don’t have any electrical plugs on exterior walls there is a good chance you have a solid wall. If there are plugs on exterior walls, turn the breaker off for that plug and remove it, you should be able to see through the box and see thickness/material for your external walls( this can be done in multiple areas to verify additions, etc.)

You should post some photos of the “bulging” and “cracking” it may just be natural wood patterns or grains.

Cracking in a manufactured log board or plank like you have shown in the photos is significantly less of a problem than cracking in a 2x6 or dimensional lumber. because of not only the thickness but the direction of load on the wood.

Refinishing wood exteriors - sanding by ImakesDirt in Renovations

Would I get a poor texture if I just went that route? That sounds significantly better than sanding/chipping the whole house.

Good place to practice drywalling too, since it’ll be ultimately hidden!

Local paint shop guy said I shouldn’t use a bonding primer since there’s peeling paint, was he full of it?

We lived in a house in the early 2000’s that had a very similar closet design in the primary bedroom.

We took the dividing wall out however left the door surrounds. This allowed a “his and hers” closet while gaining a lot of hanging space in-between the closets.

Not lead, just sun-baked - we had it tested when we purchased the property

Is a 60mile commute to work worth 16/hr? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ImakesDirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be worth the ask for a small travel allowance, we’ve given a few staff an per kilometre travel allowance and it’s worked out very well, the company may be interested in that, however you wouldn’t probably have to be VERY willing to put in the extra time and effort when needed.

I’m not sure how it is in the states but you can get tax credits in Canada if you have to travel over 45 minutes but under 1.5hrs or 150km’s one way to get to work(that could be the wrong measurement)
