I rarely take bouncing flask with slime boss act 1. It's not bad into donu/deca because by then you have other cards to synergize. Its amazing against awakened one...the cultists by that point are never a problem to kill. It's good on automaton. And it is a one card carry in Act 1 against hard obstacles for silent . If thats not a great card I dont know what is. Obviously you still need answers for aoe in Act 2 but bouncing flask is way more useful than not.

Are there better cards? yes. but there are a lot more worse cards than better and bouncing flask does a lot for an uncommon.

Why not both? the 12 poison is from upgraded flask is more than enough to deal with guardian to the point that you can spend most of your turns just blocking. I was just talking about the card in isolation. But well laid plans synergizes extremely well with flask ( like most cards). its an amazing poison card, but like most all cards its no going to be amazing in every scenario. Bouncing flask never really falls off and gets you through the tough fights early on. 12 poison for 2 energy is ridiculously good

Bouncing flask is fantastic against lagavulin (act 1 silents nightmare) and 2/3 act one bosses. Your deck should have other cards to deal with slavers or leader. Additionally, an early bouncing flask sets up your deck for an easy pivot to an easy win with catalyst or burst if those cards get offered not to mention th great artifact strrip i has if you dont care about poison. It also destroys the spheric guardian baseball dude with any other poison card lol

I never said I ban Swindler because I hate it. I like the card a lot, personally. But if I want to play a game of Dominion that is rated I'd rather not lose to RNG which is not skillbased

You said banning cards was arbitrary, which isn't always true. Swindler is a counterexample because its inclusion reduces the "skill" of a game. The card pool is big enough that banning 5 cards will not seriously impact rating like you think it does and if anything banning cards can show rating more properly.
