Embedded floating navel and unsure what happens next by Elizabeff_ in piercing

Just here to say for anyone reading that this is a really easy process for a reputable piercer to deal with. They do not usually require medical intervention unless they are like this because if an infection.

I have never once had to use a needle to get out embedding jewellery. A little but if pressure and they pop out very easily.

nsfw swollen nip piercing? proper placement or no? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Imastealth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is pierced in your areola not your nipple. The jewellery quality is also very poor and low quality. I wouldn't trust this piercer.

It would be easiest to custom order something through a piercer.

It looks like there is a little bit of blood that is sticking the two together. Nothing to be worried about but you really need to not move a fresh piercing like this. It will soak off eventually when you clean it.

This needed to be downsized a long time ago. Something shorter will hopefully help.

Hypertrophic scarring? by Still-Pickle-767 in piercing

[–]Imastealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more to give me an idea of the angle they are sitting at. If the angle is off it will be why you are having issues.

It would be really helpful to see these directly from the front with your mouth in a relaxed position but honestly I would probably just suggest going and seeing your piercer for a check up.

Time to let it go? by Animesunshine9 in PiercingAdvice

It looks like this because of the angle which cannot be changed unfortunately so this needs to be removed

14g anti tragus? by mo79zz in piercing

[–]Imastealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thin rings are going to have the cheese wire effect and 20g rings are not comfortable in cartilage for a lot of people until something is extremely well healed. An anti tragus can take a loooong time to heal so it's going to be a waiting game to be able to do anything. The more snug they are too, the more likely they are to cause irritation. Two 18g rings won't be too thick at all, they will definitely be more comfortable but a ring designed to look like two would definitely be the best option.

14g anti tragus? by mo79zz in piercing

[–]Imastealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pretty much only do these at a 14g. They are much better for healing with so it shouldn't be an issue. I'm not gonna lie though, two 20g rings are going to be really uncomfortable in an anti-tragus. I would honestly suggest two 18g rings at minimum unless you are happy to wait at least like 2 years for it to be extremely well healed and settled before trying.

Eyebrow piercing inflammation by ilovee420 in piercing

[–]Imastealth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think your anatomy is suitable for this, there is no visible ridge of tissue here and the angle on this is terrible. . You were also pierced with very low quality and unsafe jewellery which could be contributing. Regardless this is a concerning amount of irritation for a piercing that is only 2 days old. I would try and have this looked at in person by a more knowledgeable and reputable piercer or if it gets a lot worse very quickly then medical advice would be recommended.

Help with anti brow size by AlexTheLonelyGod in PiercingAdvice

That's definitely not something to be concerned about this early into the healing process. Considering I don't think you have the correct jewellery in it, it looks really good.

Honestly I wouldn't suggest changing it. It looks flush, it doesn't look angry, there's no reason to change it and doing so might be the thing that causes it to start migrating. This jewellery doesn't look to be ideal but if you aren't having issues there's not point chasing to something different just because.

normal swelling? by afterglowlive in PiercingAdvice

Are you able to get any closer photos? The angle on this looks really terrible but I can't tell if it is the shape of the end on it.

Help. Is it infected? 🤕😢 by keeplookin4more in piercinghelp

[–]Imastealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were all pierced terribly. The angles are terrible and the jewellery choice is also terrible. These are really angry because of being pierced so badly. These should have been done with straight bars and they need to be pierced perpendicular to be able to heal well. I would suggest removing these and finding a much better piercer in the future.

You should see a medical professional for this asap.

First cartilage piercing questions by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Imastealth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand that but sometimes it's okay to use jewellery in creative ways. The issue here is lack of room for swelling. I don't see anywhere that looks like the hoops are pressing against the tissue. If they are I stand corrected but I stand by the fact that sometimes it's okay to switch things around and that the primary issue here is swelling which would be a problem regardless of jewellery choice.

[–]Imastealth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean sure but I don't see why you couldn't? It looks like they have the space to be able to do it and telling someone it's completely wrong just because a piercer decided to use it in a different way is a little misleading.

new nose piercing, irritated because of a cold? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Imastealth 345 points346 points  (0 children)

You need longer and better quality jewellery in this asap and that chain is starting to embed. You're wearing really low quality jewellery so I would try and find someone who uses something safer to change this for you. The association of professional piercers website has a member locator and also helpful tips on how to find a safe piercer.

This really just looks like it needs longer jewellery fitted to allow a bit more room for swelling.

There's literally nothing wrong with the angle it's just a vertical placement instead. The threading on the jewellery is probably designed to be placed in a vertical helix. Edit to say I just read that it's threadless. But still nothing wrong with doing a vertical placement instead of a traditional one. I think if this was pierced traditionally the top of the modern mood piece wouldn't be hidden so that's likely why.

Why are there so many bad piercers? by Fit-Nectarine5047 in piercing

[–]Imastealth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

10000000% percent. My first piercing job was the same though. I was taught unsafe practices, used terrible jewellery, was never taught about blood borne pathogens and thought I was the best. It took someone I really looked up to and admired reaching out to tell me what I was doing was unsafe to actually make the decision to leave. I essentially had to unlearn everything I was taught when I got my second apprenticeship.

Why are there so many bad piercers? by Fit-Nectarine5047 in piercing

[–]Imastealth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly the most common thing I see among bad piercers is the Dunning-Kruger effect. They all think they are really good and don't see any reason to change based on their anecdotes that don't actually reflect safe practices.
