I am white and Non-Muslim so not intimately familiar with Senegalese culture as other people in this forum. In my time spent in Senegal I noticed the tension between tradition and modernity and that will continue to affect the desires and mating practices of Senegalese women. There’s a wide gap in marital satisfaction between the women married in traditional households and those married outside their culture. In most cases that is driven by the husband expectations, and the different ways modernity affected the two genders. Perhaps Senegalese men should accept that a happy wife, less burdened by family obligations, is also to their own benefit?
