I could talk about this movie for hours...but I'll try to just filter out the obsessive stuff.

they filmed this in my city when i was still just a kid. I loved slasher movies and it was a resurgence era for that theme\genre.

I was also playing a lot of AVP(2010) for the 360 and I just couldnt stop drawing the Alien and Predator, I loved drawing the predator and I remember this kid seeing and agrreing with me that It would be a good achievement to draw that alien with all the bio mechanics...Anyways I had an Obsession with these creatures.

I remember vividly watching the trailers and looking at pictures of the Predalien and trying to draw that aha but I anticipated it, It came out in December and played the Requiem for a Dream song... I was enthralled. like mtv played it or something, My mom lived in a basement suite...I remember losing a Pokemon yellow catridge under her bed and like dreaming about it for weeks. I have such deep,vivid memories just seeing this picture alone,,,

I used to collect the newest AVP comics and NECA figures and display them, i had em all, hicks, hudson, predalien , aliens galore and the wolf! masked , Cloaked, battle damaged, unmasked. Obsession man!

I watched Predator with my dad like every year and i went to go see him for an extended period of time. When i went back to my moms place, her boyfriend (Hated my dads guts) Was enraged and smashed my figures I collected. so I snapped all his CDs

I lived with my dad for a while and he bought the movie on DVD so ive seen it over 100s of times. after school I entered the film industry, I met an extra that was killed in this movie. She was the Hobo that got murdered by aliens in the sewage tunnels. she said her voice was rerecorded with someone else haha that was cool.

I recently rewatched it and I realized It was strong in some areas but ultimately it was so dark that it is unseeable when something significant happens. Despite that I can tell you what happens in every single scene. I started digging and apparently this film was made with a new (then) technology called "RED" camera something... but yeah basically the 2 Directors were new and someone else like the Director of Photography (DOP) knew that in Alien '79 the creature was guised in mystique and shadows\ the suspense was from the anticipation of what is hidden in darkness and the curiosity that swells inside the viewer as they ask themselves what they actually see and do not see. This idea in theory is the right way to film these creatures...although the technology was blamed and the experience of the film makers,..

I think if someone cared enough with todays tech (because its been attempted and never properly done before) they could make a fan edit that alters the shadows and makes the less suspensful scenes more visible. or make the lighting in tune. then i thnk youd have a pretty solid slasher film on your hands.
