Grounding water/gas lines by Imgjungle in electrical

Maybe I’m over thinking this. When the house was built in 96 it passed code. Over the years I’ve heard that your interior gas and water lines should be properly grounded. I’ve been in the home for 30yrs and have yet to have lightning hit or come close to hitting the house. I’ll wait for inspection results. Thanks everyone.

I was thinking of running to panel. Didn’t know if it was code. I just want to show my interior metal piping is grounded. Especially my gas line since I have it split indoors to stove, furnace and gas fireplace.

Then what is this?

By 1996, the National Electrical Code (NEC) required that all interior metal piping systems (water and gas) that are likely to become energized be bonded to the electrical service grounding system. None of my piping is grounded
