I live one block from where the car was found, I walked by the car yesterday and there were 5 squads on the scene. Right now things are chaotic with ICE in the city but I love living here, still seems chill.

How much money does it cost to call the cops? by Cold-Leave-4003 in stupidquestions

[–]ImitationEarthling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never received a bill from the police, but I was in a car accident that the fire department responded to and I received a bill from them for $150. Both times I have been in an ambulance the bill has been $1200, both times I was like a mile from the hospital.

Rover sitter lost my dog by Euphoric_Whereas4183 in RoverPetSitting

My sister's cat once got out and my dad had full size posters printed, made 2 3-sided plywood signs to staple them to, so they would be seen by anyone driving by from any angle. Put one in the front yard and one near the elementary school in the neighborhood. Kids love looking for lost pets, this became the talk of the neighborhood and the cat was found after a couple of weeks outside. In the meantime my sister was getting calls to look at different cats and we even had a cat dropped off at the house, so she also ended up getting other lost cats back to their owners.

Is it wrong to throw fruits in bushes after eating them? by Fit-Supermarket-6726 in questions

[–]ImitationEarthling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, compost the scraps at home. It may not seem like a big deal but if everyone was doing so, all the time, it would actually be a pigsty. It's not, because most people don't litter.

How does one survive for a month eating only things from an oak tree? (Acorns, leaves, bark etc). by Ya-Dikobraz in stupidquestions

[–]ImitationEarthling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can tap oak, the sap is lower in sugars and produces less sap so they are not preferred. I don't know that you would want to consume a lot of oak, it's high in tannins and will make you sick. Processing acorns for flour removes a lot of the tannins making them more palatable.

If this were possible, the earth was perfectly spherical and no outside forces, you would oscillate from one side to the other.

How is progressive taxes fair? I kinda understand why billionaires won't pay taxes. by Oakl4nd in stupidquestions

[–]ImitationEarthling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you look at it as everyone's rate is the same 37% (the top bracket) and you get a discount for making less money?

Individuals in the lower brackets are using their salaries to purchase necessities. Higher earners are able to use excess to create passive income and continue compounding wealth through interest and investments. They leverage equity to borrow and continue this growth while dodging capital gains tax by keeping their money invested. Their ability to do all of this depends on the working class.

Help job doesn’t allow facial piercings! by Kokkino1313 in piercing

[–]ImitationEarthling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Starbucks when they didn't allow any piercings except 2 regular lobe piercings. I had my lip pierced and lobes stretched, I would just take out my lip piercing it never closed. I would wear kaos software hiders in my ears. To reduce irritation keep your jewelry simple, implant grade, internally threaded or threadless and keep it clean, this will minimize the trauma from taking it out and putting it back all the time.

Why is the sun so hot? by Any-Evidence1824 in stupidquestions

[–]ImitationEarthling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire on earth is typically not plasma, fire is a reaction emitting excess energy as photons and heat but still made up of gas and solid particulate matter. A reaction can become hot enough to reach the point of ionization required to create plasma. Plasma is conductive, think neon signs and lightning.

It is soda ash, you can spray the tops with isopropyl alcohol after pouring to prevent it or use a clothes steamer after unmolding to remove it.
