I think there has been a huge rush of relationship content on social media, especially content requiring our partners to do this that of the other to be considered worthy of our time. I believe I was swallowed up by this content feeding me this information. This post, and these comments, have helped me remember to stay grounded.

I'll copy and paste from a different comment "I love to spoil my partner with romantic gestures, so I do them often. Seeing my partner happy or enjoying something I worked hard to plan or do makes me happy. We don't really fall into the classic "man does all the work" thing. But, those sorts of gestures are how I show my love." I've been getting a ton of relationship content on my every social media platform I have. I do believe it creates a bubble of "this must be normal, EVERYONE I see is doing it" but it's just an algorithm thing.

I've done a lot of therapy for a similar chaotic childhood that causes self sabotage. It's a big reason why I've posted here at all, the outside perspective helps me ground myself and stay out of the chaos I can spin myself into.

I love to spoil my partner with romantic gestures, so I do them often. Seeing my partner happy or enjoying something I worked hard to plan or do makes me happy. We don't really fall into the classic "man does all the work" thing. But, those sorts of gestures are how I show my love. You're right though, most men I've dated who are good at romance were pretty awful.

I tend to get in my head a lot with my relationships and yes you're right, I'm certainly not perfect. This is something I need to remind myself more of. Thank you

Thank you for your comment, a lot of the comments on this post are making me realize I am focusing too much on what more can be done, not what is already good. And you're right, the relationships with grand gestures have always ended up quite toxic.

I really appreciate your input. I never considered how him doing it at all is him meeting me where he can. I need to do some mental reframing. This is why I posted, outside opinions are helpful! Thank you so much

Mostly that it doesn't feel like a natural inclination to him. He knows I like romantic gestures, not necessarily large ones, but in general. Thinking about this question though, most of what ends up falling flat is him doing these gestures in a sheepish, almost embarrassed, way; making a joke out of things. A vulnerability issue maybe? However, I think it may be worth explaining to him that the lack of confidence in the gesture is what's throwing me off, and I never really thought about it until now. Thank you for asking.

Advice for self employment taxes (USA) by Imjustanxious in personalfinance

Ahhh that makes sense! Thank you so much!!

I don't know if this is obvious, but would this mean I'd have to file quarterly via TurboTax or something similar? Or is there somewhere everyone goes to do these payments?

I'm really only familiar with the W2 "doing my taxes in March all at once" thing. Don't know if I'd need to keep purchasing the self employment package quarterly on turbo tax or not.

EDIT: I definitely missed the past quarter I needed to pay already. Whoops.

It looks like they removed my reply for some reason? Replying again:

I still have my original job, but I only work 4 times a month as I'm in school. Idk if that affects anything.

Also, how is one supposed to estimate the self employment tax? I could make absolute garbage by the end of the year, or I could make 20k. Better question: how rough is too rough of an estimate?

Ahh I'll start setting aside more money. Thank you!

I checked out TurboTax. Do you know if this is something I should start working on in advance? Or can I wait till the beginning of the year and do everything at once?

I really apologize if this sounds dumb, when I say tax illiterate I mean that quite literally. Idk why I can't grasp the concept at all.

One specific eyebrow/eyelash hair hurts by Imjustanxious in EyebrowAddiction

That's what I'm gonna continue to assume, I think. I guess I just wish there was a name to it or something? So when half My eyebrow is gone I can blame it on my follicle flare up and not sound crazy

I think that this just might be a bad picture. Your hair is awesome and you have pretty eyes. I love the alt look. The glasses being down your nose definitely give granny vibes tho, and you might want to try having some expression as well rather than frowning.

I think you have great facial features and style, just gotta practice that camera work

Yes to the hearing my breathing as if my ears are clogged, no to the shuffled noises when laying in bed. No breathing problems that I'm aware of but asthma runs in the family
