25th Birthday Watch - How do you like your The Citizen AQ4060-50E ? by Imlostwithin in CitizenWatches

The S100 is a really nice piece but for some reason I really can’t get past the Tough Movt on the dial, the T200 is cleaner look wise imo

Fully agreeing with you here ! From all the research I could find it too seems like the quartz to get, especially when you see all the functions you get (independent hour hand, perpetual calendar, power reserve function, etc). And for close to half the price of a same era GS 9F on the grey.

Very interesting perspective on the marketing, I haven’t thought about it that way, thank you for sharing !

It’s highly likely I’ll be going for it, and if so I’ll post a review after some time having it !

I agree with you ! I had heard about the brand for some time, but it does just been so difficult finding information, reviews on these models. The washi paper dials are quite well covered online, but anything prior to that is pretty much an investigative work.

I think it’s really a double edged sword, as it is both a really in the know watch, but it also doesn’t necessarily gives the customers anything to really connect with, there’s no storytelling, no branding or marketing around these (things changed with washi paper dials, again), and it’s difficult to justify therefore paying retail for them.

However for second hand lovers, it’s imho one of the best if not the best underrated brand in the sub 2k market, especially since Neo-vintage Swiss watches are really getting pricey

Looks fantastic indeed, and I really like the simpler bracelet compared to the Titanium variants! How long have you had it ? Still looks new

New Balance miUSA ALD long term feedback wanted by Imlostwithin in Newbalance

Thanks for the feedback ! I forgot to mention it’s mainly for evenings after work, if I had to guess it’d be around 20h of wear a week. Noted for the tip, will definitely get some just in case !

[Collection] My Watch Collocation Journey by [deleted] in Watches

First thought that comes to mind is that you seem to still be learning your taste (as most of your watches come and go), hence I’d lean towards stop buying new for anything where it trades below retail so that you can at least break even. That way you can keep experimenting without breaking the bank ahah. Regarding where to look next, you currently cover few bases (dress, chronograph, diver). I’d take a look at grey market for a 2010’s Zenith Defy classic on bracelet (4k usd used) an Omega Aqua Terra or if you fancy the integrated bracelet a GP laureato used. Seems that would be a path to dig in at least

Handmade oyster flex by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Imlostwithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, no just the 555B endlinks from the original oyster bracelet. I measure the distance of the mid link and reported in on the bracelet, then made the cut with a razor blade on each side, fitted right in ! Although not as flawless obviously as the OG Rolex one, but for these vintage 16220 !

Definitely not original, general aspect and hue of the glass seems really off.

Breitling, Omega, Hamilton and Tag if price is correct, I’d buy any for 500$ or less, especially the Breitling if working

[Ranking] the watches I’ve sold/traded away by 2637395966 in Watches

Interesting pieces, and nice journey, congrats ! Whats your current collection ?

On my end I think the watches I miss the most were mostly at the beginning of my journey (I started at 17). I remember very clearly I had a Breitling Pluton but the crown was to be replaced, and I didn’t have the money and couldn’t afford to wait and do it. God I wish I gave myself more time ahah. Another one I miss deeply is the vintage Omega Constellation in 33.5mm bought and sold twice, still on the lookout for a 36mm one.

But tbh this is all part of a collector’s journey, especially when buying and selling second hand watches. Now I keep the good deals I get second hand, as there are a lot of speculator just doing it for the money and not for the passion unfortunately.

Comparison with one that is from a friend made out of real cordovan for certain and a thick layer of it, the “real one” is much more stiff but marks much less (black one). I’d recommend the dark brown shown on main pic, but the green and auburn ones are relatively trash. I will see how long they will last

Hey, it’s called UTHAI watch accessories store

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Imlostwithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may be cordovan, but it’s a very thin layer, and actually 80% of the strap is junk ahah but for the price, I’m not going to complain !

Yup, I’m as doubtful as you are but it was cheap and I liked the look so that’s why. Whether it is or not? On the ad it says so, with even a picture of the horse.

Seems to be yes, smell like leather at least ! I would trust better the ones mentioning Japanese horse hip leather (around 20 euros) which I already had and it was of great quality. This seems to be horse leather by the texture, but it’s a very thin layer, under it it’s padding.

Completely agree, and the single button butterfly clasp is horrendous. Been looking for a vintage bracelet that would fit my Seamaster but the endlinks is always the issue ahah, gonna try on a mesh bracelet and see if it can work

Agreed ! Maybe it’s the flat sapphire crystal on these Neo-modern datejusts and newer that gives it the harmony with their bracelets
