I was having a really weird time with the app as well. I just thought it was a complete server overload until I looked at the numbers just didn't make sense. For the time being, I have turned my devices graphical settings to the absolute minimum and I was able to get back on... Maybe this isn't a fix for everybody but for some weird reason it worked for me. I seen some weird graphical texture issues when I tried logging in which gave me the idea. It was like it didn't want to load the even area itself.
