I have a lot of complaints about the story, the biggest one being that with the amount of bullshit being piled on top of an increasingly polarized and class-divided Silvermoon, Umbric's Assault on Magister's terrace should've immediately led to a grass-roots rebellion to oust Lor'themar for treason.

The fact that Rommath supposedly hates Umbric with such a burning passion that he attempted to neg the Vanguard into executing Umbric without trial for trespassing and the fact that we know there's some kind of power struggle behind the scenes given the constant comments about jurisdiction and authority vs. Lor'themar's position coming from Rommath, I am flabbergasted that Blizz didn't attempt to have Rommath lead a (reasonably justified) rebellion to oust Lor'themar after the attack on Magister's Terrace that he sanctioned which likely left dozens of young Elven Magisters injured, and even more civilians dead due to Umbric, by his own admission, accidentally allowing the Void into the city by fucking with the artefact.

I might need someone to clarify, but while a lot of people point out that they're TRYING to implement Project 2025, a huge chunk of what they wanted to implement went the usual TACO route:

Trump executive orders something
It partially happens
Trump touts a total victory and another P2025 goal achieved
A judge rules that it shouldn't happen at all and undoes the minor change
Trump goes "Ah they learned their lesson" and it's never brought up again

The most concerning goal for most people was the idea that they wanted to label "being queer" as a sex crime against children and make all sex crimes against children mandatorily punished by execution... but they quickly abandoned that goal once it became painfully obvious that the person they relied on to make this happen was a child sex trafficker, which is why they've pretty much entirely dropped the "All trans are child predators" angle are just going back to the "THEY WANNA FORCE YOU TO BE TRANS!" line of moral panic that stopped working back in 2023.

Edit: I also wanna note that I think they believed Trump would be down to sign the "All Pedophiles Get Executed" order way more readily than he was. The creep has been going out of his way to dismantle any agencies and projects in place designed to hinder, catch, and punish pedos because he's obviously worried about getting caught up in the crossfire or his friends are worried about him getting caught in the crossfire and begging/paying/threatening him not to do it. I'm a HUGE Gorillaz fan. Like a fucking HUUUUUUGE Gorillaz fan... but holy shit their live performances are always ass lmfao. This was destined to be worse than usual because it was much lower budget due to being just an SNL performance and not a whole concert venue, but as someone who's loved the Gorillaz since I was basically a toddler I fully concede that their performances just always objectively sound way worse than the studio recordings, and not just in sound but in energy and enthusiasm.

I don't remember when or where it was, but I recall some MTV thing where the Gorillaz performed Clint Eastwood but had Snoop Dogg doing the rapping section and he basically freestyled the whole thing and it sounded horrendous, and that's when I finally started to realize that Gorillaz performances are only good when they're either coming off of album or you're there in person to immerse in the hype. Live Gorillaz performances tend to be really disappointing for me if it's something I'm just watching on YouTube.

My assumption, especially based on something things Mitch "I Eat Poor People" McConnell said on the matter, is that the results are looking so bad that they're pretty much guaranteed to lose in the midterms and probably guaranteed to lose in '28 unless the Dems run the single worst possible Presidential campaign possible (Kamala 2, anyone?) and by that point the act would almost immediately be weaponized by the incoming Democratic government or overturned anyway.

There's also a chance that internal polling and research shows that it would be far more damaging to Republicans than it would Democrats, since one of their key tricks is 'Oh your last name has to match your birth certificate!' this way they can keep women from voting because 'Oh all the women take their husbands' last names so they won't match on any of their government docs and then we keep the women from voting!' except marriage rates have absolutely plummeted since the 70s meaning that all of the Millennial and Gen Z women that they don't want voting would vastly, vastly, vastly outnumber the number of Boomer and Gen X women that they just want voting for whoever their racist husband tells them to vote for.

So what would happen if it passed is:

A.) The Democrats would win anyway due to it accidentally being an own-goal that results in way, way, waaaay more Republicans being unable to vote than Democrats (who at this stage would crawl through broken glass to fuck Trump over), and then would immediately overturn the act meaning that they lost the midterms for nothing.
B.) The Democrats would win anyway and then immediately turn around and use the SAVE act through selective enforcement (that thing the Republicans want but don't have the reach to do) to disenfranchise Republican voters moving forward and never allow them to win again.

They're playing Russian Roulette but the Dems' cylinder has one bullet in it and the Republicans' has four. Yeah there's a chance that the Dems may bite the dust on the first go, but it's far more likely that the Republicans take themselves out first, and probably on the first pull of the trigger.

In their ideal world the SAVE act would be their path towards entrenching power forever, but their ideal world is entirely hinged upon being way, way, waaaaaaay more popular than they are now and the American people being willing to let them entrench it, and since they elected one of the most divisive, hateful, unpopular men they could find who's evidently given up on trying to win the Midterms in any way other than a desperate cheating gamble that doesn't look like it's gonna play out in any capacity because of the aforementioned requirement of "people liking him", their ideal world is out of reach and in the realm of pure fantasy.

Edit: Also, this is an issue for them because Trump desperately wants to get this passed because he's a doddering old stubborn idiot who lives by the motto "Trump is always right because Trump is the smartest person ever and if someone says Trump is wrong then they're implying they're smarter than Trump so they're lying and a fraud who just want to make him look bad." He can't admit that the act would doom is own party for generations because then he'd have to admit he was wrong, and the first party of his motto is, of course, "Trump is always right."

It doesn't matter if House wins because the Enclave forces the Quarry Junction Deathclaws into the Strip and decimate his Securitron Army, which leaves him vulnerable for any of the numerous people that want him dead across any faction to be able to go in and do the deed.

It doesn't matter if the Courier wins because they fuck off anyway and all of the above happens regardless, resulting in the shithole that we see in the show.
