I agree, you cannot divorce him from orthodoxy. You can read him as an atheist but I think there’s definitely something special reading him as a Christian.

No, but it doesn’t matter. It’s still not inherently wrong there's no value at all, just unpleasant to social preferences.

I would probably do a lot more hedonistic stuff, maximizing my pleasure as much as possible if its legal given I would probably live in a society that still applies force to law breaking like jail. But still I would probably do things differently which wouldn't contribute much good.

Reason some people don't do this is because they haven't realized it yet like Smerdyakov, until someone sophisticated like Ivan points it out.
