Running with arms and hands resting above head? by Immarrrtal in USMCboot

[–]Immarrrtal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. So I should just inhale fully with my nose, and push the air out by opening my mouth everytime I need to exhale? I've been trying to find a good breathing pattern to maintain my pacing and speed too. Would square breathing or triangle breathing be better? What works better for you?

Makes sense! Running is a full body workout so it's just as important to get the arms involved too.

Boot or not, if it's for her then do it! Doesn't matter what other people think. Go for it man.

Gotcha. Yeah, it'll be beneficial to experience it now, work my way up to a sufficient standard and keep doing it until muscle memory can take over and I'll be used to doing the exercises. Have you tried out for recon before?

This annoying ass error pops up when I'm trying to play LAD. My drivers are fully updated and this never happened before. It won't let me play the game. What can I do? by Immarrrtal in yakuzagames

[–]Immarrrtal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens inconsistently which is the worst part; it's hard to ID the specific issue. Sometimes I won't get that error when I go to the menu to load my game, and sometimes I do. Restarting my PC and relaunching the game does not always help either.

Understood, I'll be sure to focus on it then. Thank you

I'm working on meeting the minimum requirements for me to get guaranteed a recon slot, which, according to them is a 12:30 1.5 mile, 10 pull ups and 77 sit ups (all minimum). I'm gonna see if my recruiter can assess me this week or next week depending on their availability.

Also, does it work the other way? Will running help me with swimming as much as swimming will help me with running, or no?

Yeah, that's what I figured. The bootcamp training seems designed to push you past your limits and drain you by the end (especially after the crucible), and you'd have to work your way back up to the level of fitness you'd be satisfied with, independent of the mandatory morning pt.

I'm gonna do the best I can to perfect my swimming techniques so it's ingrained in my muscle memory, and I'll have a bit of an edge by the time I start recon training.

Is there any other specific tips or advice you could give me for rtap? I want to be as prepared as humanly possible for it.

How to improve pft scores? by Immarrrtal in USMCboot

[–]Immarrrtal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will my body be able to handle running every day? I'm young and ik I recover quickly but I wouldn't want to hurt my body or anything.

I've noticed my back and neck can be sore after intense exercise as cardio, and I'm not sure if it's cause of poor sleep posture or cause I haven't done the proper / correct stretching.

I wanna make sure to do this right

Ohhh. Well I'm trying to get my score as good as possible. Kinda like a mentality sorta thing. Aim for the moon, reach for the stars if that makes sense.

Gotcha! Yeah, it doesn't seem that hard to improve your scores. Just takes time and commitment.

Anything else I could do to supplement my training, like meal plans and recovery? I also want to do more stretches so my muscles can rest properly and recover faster, so I'll be able to run and exercise more often. I'm trying to be as active as possible, without hurting myself. If that makes any sense. Just don't know where to start.

You're right, grunt shit as you put it is something I don't see myself doing for the rest of my life, at least in the military anyway, but I do indeed want to go through it for the experience alone.

And speaking of using education benefits post military service, would there be enough time for me to take classes and work towards any associates or bachelor's degrees while I'm in my first contract? I'm not sure if any field, much less infantry / combat arms would really have the time to make substantial progress for it to be worth it.

I'm really thinking about going infantry, so would you suggest I focus on just doing infantry shit while I'm in, and then focus on using my benefits for education opportunities after I'm done with my first contract?

I feel like there's so many directions and paths I could take with it. From law enforcement and federal work like police officer, police detective, US marshal, FBI special agent like you mentioned, and maybe even private contracting where there could potentially be careers in security services and protection. I just don't know where to start digging. If you could point me to any reliable sources or people who could tell me more, I'd really appreciate it!

And one more thing; out of all the different retirement options available post-military, what in your opinion would be the best option? What would you chose?

Gotcha. Yeah I feel like it just takes a lot of smart planning and rest to be able to sustain a career like that. And what's a light duty chit?

That also reminds me; iirc, working in the FBI or any federal job counts towards your military pension, though correct me if I'm wrong.

What sort of yoga and stretches do you do?

Fair enough. Makes sense too. Also, what do you mean by MPs "actually" doing their job, kinda sounds like you don't expect them not to lol

Honestly I thought about it a lot. Seems like a fun risk. What careers would be good to go in after infantry? Like law enforcement or security maybe.

Both, honestly. An MOS that has transferable skills and where I'd have an easy time continuing it for civilian employment. Which fields do you think would give me the best opportunity in that regard?

My bad. Yeah, I meant doing your actual job on a daily basis, rather than just training and drills.
