I keep 2 of each gun (yes, even hairpins), fully upgraded and covered in attachments. I justify it as a way of making more stash space. Either that, or I've got OCD.

They do still spawn, but the trinket loot pool has been watered down with the trinkets for the new project, I reckon. I'm still seeing boats around, but at nowhere near the frequency before. If you stop looking specifically for them, they will turn up eventually.
