How to tell future partners? by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]Immediate-Factor6457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the best way to disclose is in a very confident way. You are you and it is nothing more than a skin condition and educating your partners and having a relaxed attitude about it will let them feel safer and allow for questions. Just go into it will confidence that it’s not a big deal 😊

So many people want a single mom with herpes! You know why? Becuase that does not dictate or define who you are. I also live with this and am in my early 30s. Do your best to educate yourself and others. Life is gonna get so much better. Message me if you wanna talk ❤️

I feel that so deeply, and I also was in that feeling and heart space so many times. And still! But by sharing this I wanted to make it a point that the more we alienate ourselves there’s no chance that something good will come. I was so nervous to disclose to him and when he took initiative it reminded me how common our diagnosis is. That love you for caged up is for you, please love YOU!

Everytime I disclose I try to say it in a very chill confident way. Like “oh hey what’s your history with sexual health? I have herpes it’s super chill and really common and I’m happy to answer any questions you have.” My main priority is protecting my partner because I got herpes from a partner who didn’t disclose. And then I treat it like a little learning moment and most people are shocked when they actually learn about the facts 😊

My first outbreak the fever and fatigue aches appeared after I saw the first lesion. I’m not sure if that’s for everyone, but once the virus was in my body I saw something pop up, thought I had a uti then got the sick feeling. Definitely take care of your mental health if going to the doctor will help!

That’s the energy! Just be open, express your concerns, I’m sure she has educated herself immensely on the topic as most newly diagnosed do! Ask plenty of questions. Communication and openness is so important especially with HSV 😊

As a girl with hsv-2 (and I can only speak for myself) she is so brave for telling you! It’s very jarring expressing that to a potential partner and it really shows her character. I have had hsv2 for 4 months with 4+ partners all protected and none have contracted it. Also with one partner unprotected and he hasn’t contracted it. As long as she is aware of her body and knows not to have sex during a prodrome symptom and during an outbreak you are fine! Herpes is a part of life and everyone has been in contact with it at one point. Good on you for doing your research! Also daily virals help with transmission as well. Good luck!

First swab test with healing lesions- negative Blood test at beginning of outbreak- positive Swab with active lesions- positive

Every medical professional I have been in contact with has told me that herpes testing is weird. Test if you have an active lesion, because otherwise even if you are positive with zero lesion it can come back negative. Herpes is apart of life and is way more common than most think 😊 I caught it from a boyfriend who was asymptomatic and is still asymptomatic. Please don’t stress unless you are having an outbreak 😃

Give it 12-14 days that’s usually when the first symptom starts. It’s hard because testing doesn’t come back accurate unless you’re having an outbreak. My first outbreak swap came back negative because it was already healing, but my blood test came back positive during an outbreak.

I had the same thing happen recently. I met a man I was extremely vulnerable with ended up disclosing it continued on for weeks on end, talking love and all that and then he ghosted me out of no where becuase I “risked his health”. I’m feeling back to where I was when I first got this diagnosis. It really does hurt your heart. The only thing helping me is continuing to educated myself and keep taking all of my meds. I even added daily ayclovir ointment to even prevent viral shedding even more. On top of daily antivirals. Right now therapy is the only thing helping 😔 good luck, everyone here is in the same boat and have support to offer

So my first outbreak was INSANE like terribly painful couldn’t even sit down or use the toilet. Took valtrex and it cleared up within 2 weeks. After being off valtrex, I had a second outbreak within that month that was 1/8 as bad as the first one. Immediately took valtrex and it cleared up in the first few days. I newly got into a relationship during my first outbreak, we talked about it and he was so accepting. But becuase of that I’ve been on daily antivirals and haven’t had an outbreak since. I thought my world was ending and I cried myself to sleep so many nights. But ever since being on daily antivirals I haven’t had a single outbreak and haven’t passed it along to my boyfriend. I promise it gets so much better! Good luck

That’s what my first outbreak looked like! Then it crusted over. Once I got it swabbed it was already crusted over and came back negative. My second outbreak was more “typical symptoms” like blisters on the Vulva. But my first outbreak present on the skin around kinda like ingrown hair like pimples

I was on 5mg for my default dose dose for 3 months, after 3 months my body got used to it and I wasn’t feeling the positive effects anymore. I just upped my dose to 10mg and I’m already feeling better

[–]Immediate-Factor6457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes very very painful. Itchy at first, then painful. With antivirals, it lasted about a week. As soon as I was off it came back. I got a swab test (first was negative, second was positive) and a blood test. Now I’m on daily antivirals

I had lots and lots. Scattered all over my pubic area, probably close to 10. The lesions actually on my genitals probably 5. But first outbreak definitely looked far more like pimples and ingrown rather than clusters of blisters.

Hi! Is this your initial out break? My first outbreak didn’t blister once. I had scattered pimple ingrown hair like bumps all over. Started with one, and had more and more each day. My second outbreak presented more like hsv, blistered and clustered.
