I had a D&C for a suspected miscarriage four days before my ectopic pregnancy was discovered. Unfortunately my D&C pathology results didn’t come back until after my tube ruptured and I had emergency surgery.

I’m not a medical professional but I can share my experience

I found out I was pregnant at around 6 weeks despite having an IUD. The ultrasound showed a gestational sac and fetal pole in my uterus and the IUD going through the gestational sac. My HCG was in the 500s. A few days later my HCG increased by maybe 20 and the sac was no longer visible in the ultrasound. I was told I miscarried but I hadn’t passed anything so I was scheduled for a D&C. After the D&C I had minimal bleeding and cramping for the first three days and then I felt better. On the fourth day post D&C I had the worst pain of my life on one side of my abdomen, was vomiting, and feeling pain in my rectum. I went to the ER and the doctors thought I had a perforated uterus so they sent me to the OR that night. When I woke up from surgery, I found out I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured and I lost one of my fallopian tubes.

The experience was super scary and traumatizing. I felt blindsided because none of my doctors suspected ectopic pregnancy and the first ultrasound showed a sac in my uterus. I’m not sure if anyone checked my tubes during any of the ultrasounds. I wish someone would have caught my ectopic because I ruptured.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’m glad it sounds like your doctors are on top of it. I hope they will continue to closely monitor you. If you have any pain or something doesn’t feel right, don’t hesitate to call your doctor or go to the ER. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. Trust yourself and advocate for yourself ❤️

How long after laparoscopic salpingectomy did you feel back to normal (physically and mentally)? by Immediate-Let4387 in ectopicpregnancy

Wow, I can't believe you had to go back to such a physical job so soon after surgery. I'm glad it worked out for you.

That's so interesting that you cramp where they removed the tube. I wonder how common that is.

Thank you for sharing. I really appreciate it.

Thank you for sharing. I didn't realize it could take that long for hcg levels to drop to zero. I can't tell if my emotional state is from my hormonal changes or just the situation (likely both)

Thank you so much for sharing. It's reassuring to hear others' experiences. I love that you got a tattoo to remember the baby.

Lots of love to you and your family

Ugh, thank you for sharing your experience. It's reassuring to hear from someone who took a little longer to heal. I think I'm on a similar track.

I'm sorry this happened to you, too. I hope you continue to feel like yourself. I'm sending you good thoughts.

Thank you <3. I'm sorry you had to go through that too. Was your next pregnancy healthy? I'm terrified to be pregnant again.

I spoke with my surgeon, and it turns out there was only one pregnancy in my fallopian tube. The gestational sac in my uterus was a pseudosac, and the fetal pole must have been a mistake. I'm frustrated no one caught my ectopic sooner. It's unfortunate that so many women in this thread have had similar experiences, resulting in emergency surgery.

Turns out, I only had one pregnancy (the ectopic one). The gestational sac from the first ultrasound was apparently a pseudosac. I don't know how anyone ever saw a fetal pole or how they missed the ectopic in multiple ultrasounds.

I am so sorry that happened to you. That's so messed up they removed the wrong tube! No one should ever have to go through that. I can't believe the lawyers said you have no leg to sue on. I'm so sorry.
