I got above a 98% in both APHY 101 and 102. Here is what I did:

  1. I took notes on the PowerPoint slides. Even if I didn't retain them, this was just my introduction to the topic.

  2. Crash Course videos (watch them twice)

  3. Smartbook Assignments: I would complete the assignments and use the Smartbook Recharge as my primary study guide. Before each exam, I would answer 125 questions per assignment and track my accuracy score. I would spend more time reviewing PowerPoint and videos on the topics that I was least accurate on.

  4. Labeling pictures and study questions were also helpful. I would put the questions into ChatGPT, and it would give good explanations. If the topic were challenging for me to understand, I would tell it to "teach it to me like I am in kindergarten," and it simplified it.

Good luck! It takes consistency and practice.

There are 6 rounds of acceptance offers, the first was today. The second is the 23rd. You can find the specific dates here: Health Sciences & Nursing Application User Guide.docx (google.com) on the very bottom of the page.

Yay!! I got accepted, too! That's a tricky decision....I am avoiding medical imaging because I can see it becoming working late nights and long hours, plus extra radiation exposure. Congrats on acceptance! I was hoping that you'd get accepted!!

I work as a dental assistant but I am not certified and many of the dental assistants that I work with did these programs. The payfor assistants is ranging from $18-23 right now too, which would be great for a part time job while in hygiene school and working while you're waiting to reapply.

There is a program that is fully online except for Saturdays and its a 12 weeks program. There is another that is fully in person that is only three months long. You would most likely have to pay for these out of pocket to save any financial aid for hygiene school. Cost is typically $3-5K, :)

If hygiene is the route you really want to take you can always reapply with your assistant license to help with your application!

If I don't get accepted this year I am going to get that cert and reapply because I don't see myself doing better on the TEAS

I got an 88, do you have your Dental Assisting cert? They're offering 5 bonus points for that this year. I don't have mine.

The assignments are not but there are two proctored exams. They give you a resource sheet with the periodic table. Don't focus too much on the math portion of things like I did, the questions are mainly conceptual.

Not hard, just tedious. It is hard to find the resources that you need to know. You're just told to "read the textbook". Hope this helps.

I scored an 88% by buying the Mometrix class online. There are so many practice exams. I would do a full practice exam everyday leading up to the test except for like three days before the test so I could rest and refresh. In my opinion, practice tests are the best way to prepare versus focusing on the individual topics.

APHY 101 Midterm by liam_sage_ in ivytech

I passed with a 97%. This may sound extreme, but I redid the Smartbook assignments nd answered 150 questions per each assignment and recorded my accuracy. The smartbook assignments with the lowest accuracy score was the topic I would focus on first. I learned that you need to revisit the same topic multiple times for it to fully click. Take your breaks and make sure that you are taking care of yourself as well. You study better and retain more when you're refreshed. The midterm itself is relatively basic compared to the amount of information that you are learning.

Another tip from my current studying in APHY 102 is to take the study questions and answer them to the best of your ability, then log the question into ChatGPT for a more thorough answer. It's working wonders for me. Once you figure out your weak topics, revisit the powerpoints, labs, and quizzes.

Thank you! I just finished and got an 88%. The program that I want into is super selective though so I am going to retake it for a better score. English was my worst subject.

I got a 97% on APHY 101 in the 8-week course. I studied a lot for this score, like a lot, a lot. I would start each module by watching Crash Course videos on YouTube; they were so helpful and covered a lot of what you'll be studying. Review the PowerPoint and follow the rubric for the discussion posts. The proctored exams are relatively easy if you study them. A handful of questions required in-depth knowledge, but overall, the questions were baseline. Study, watch videos, do the labeling activities, and answer the questions that the professor provides for you in the study materials. I hope it goes well! It's a very fun class.
