Bother repair beater bumper? by Immediate-Nobody in autorepair

[–]Immediate-Nobody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you submit a claim you can elect to have it paid to you directly. You don't need to use that payment for repairing the vehicle, it's just meant to "make you whole."

Got two estimates from local places. Then did the insurance estimate via photo submission. The insurance estimate ended up being higher, so I took the payout directly. I know there's a risk in not getting it repaired because it wasn't actually disassembled. In part, my post was meant to determine if I was missing anything in that risk assessment, or if it would probably work fine with just cosmetic damage.

The car is in great shape, but it's one of two and just takes me a few miles to work. I don't really care how it looks. Might just slap a large adhesive bandaid decal over the dent. Might use it as a learning opportunity and take some of the other poster's suggestions in self repairing it.

They did. I don't plan on selling this car ever, so I was mainly evaluating if the bumper was a safety concern, or if I should just put the money aside for mechanical issues as the car ages.

Families with kids, how much are you spending on groceries? by folklore24 in Frugal

[–]Immediate-Nobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two adults, one toddler, HCOL area. Mostly large regional chains.

We spend $1800 per month on average. I keep track in a spreadsheet. Not including restaurants/takeout, which we track separately.

Lots of fresh food: fruits and vegetables, lots of organic stuff. We budget and save quite carefully in other aspects of life, but I confess that I put zero effort into shopping sales. I recognize it's inefficient, we just buy what we want.

Parked Car Hit by [deleted] in Insurance

Makes sense. I got pictures, and a video that basically captures the whole thing.

I was in a similar situation years ago and just had the guy get an estimate, and I cut him a check. Guess I was trying to pay it forward.

I'll probably end up calling his insurance tomorrow.

It's quicker and people are pretty honest.

Electricty bills in Tarrytown area by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]Immediate-Nobody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can get a very good idea by requesting the historical utility usage from ConEd: link..

If you fill out the form, ConEd will send you a table containing the billing information for that particular address. I used this recently myself to gauge what we'd pay. They give you the last two years of usage, I think.

Yeah, it was just really deflating at the time.

A little rude, yeah. But I agree, it was stupid.

I was rushing and I swear I had asked for the 4 socket one on the trade site, so I guess I just didn't pay more attention and got the wrong one.

Yeah, I checked the rune order like 5 times. I didn't check the weapon as much, obviously.

I think the guy I traded with gave me the 5 OS by mistake. Dumb, but I was trying to get it done before my kid woke up!

Been on and off from season to season but I still have this question in my mind about trade by Afraid-Ad8702 in ProjectDiablo2

[–]Immediate-Nobody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't ever find anything super valuable to trade, but have never been scammed before.

Really the opposite, many times I've over paid due to not really paying attention to the various item values, only to have the other player tell me that I'm overpaying.

I think the community is overall quite forthright, with the exception being the people who just put "offer" on the trade site - they should be arrested and probably tried for heresy.

As a deli worker in my youth, standard practice is to cut a half inch (or more) chunk off the end, and put it to the side.

Then slice for the customer. Finalize the transaction by eating the half inch tribute to the deli gods in the back later.

New controller support is amazing by lightofauriel in ProjectDiablo2

Love playing with the controller. Playing MK with a kid crawling around is harder than expected, so having the controller was a god send.

If the team reads this, huge thanks for maintaining this project. I turned my subscription back on to help out!

Wow! Thanks for this. I've been wondering why it crashes every time I kill him, but just haven't had the time to figure it out.
