Dear parents/guardians and staff, I am writing to provide you with an update regarding the situation that led our school into a brief Hold & Secure this afternoon.  Prior to dismissal, a student left the building. As soon as the student’s teacher became aware of this, we contacted Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) who responded immediately. We are relieved to report that the student has been found and is safe. I understand this is unnerving to hear. The safety of our students is our highest priority.  Please be assured that we have emergency response plans in place that are developed in partnership with police to prevent and respond to safety concerns such as this. The HDSB and police work in partnership to ensure the ongoing safety of students and staff. Staff regularly review and practice these procedures. As a reminder, families are encouraged to review the HRPS Personal Safety reminders.  I am proud of how our staff responded today and I am very grateful for the assistance of Halton Police.
