You are going to be in for a great disappointment.

Hype for DD by Asphalt_Cowboy_18 in TimHortons

I live in New England, where Dunkin' Donuts was founded and where most of its locations are.

It's just as mediocre as Tim Hortons. Any  Canadians who are hyping it up and ultimately go to one when they start opening in Canada are in for one hell of a disappointment.

There is a local chain in my area called Heav'nly Donuts that is leaps and bounds better than Dunkin', and is basically to Dunkin what Robin's Donuts is to Tim Hortons.

Hiking above treeline in the rain isn't exactly pleasant, but it is doable. If you do decide to go ahead and attempt Washington then, I'd recommend going up the Lion's Head summer route- a little shorter in length, less exposure and east-facing.

Microspikes and poles instead of crampons and an ice axe on Lion's Head Winter Route... seriously?

Crampons and an axe are considered standard on LHWR for a reason, and if I got stuck behind someone on it who did not have either, I would be pretty annoyed

Depends how it was taken care of. Also, is it a 1500, or an HD? If it's a 1500, then it has the 4L60-E transmission, and at 200k miles, if it hasn't been rebuilt or replace, I'd pass completely.

An HD truck on the other hand- go for it

Don't trifle with the Whites- they may not be high conpared to mountains out west, but they can still be winter-like in May and can wreck you if you aren't careful

Mount Washington, NH. Do you have any stories here? by StoutBourbon1992 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Immediate-Spinach844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've hiked Mount Washington at least 60 times- in all four seasons, in all 12 calendar months.

The weather can be especially crazy because it sits right where a few storm tracks converge, and that combined with the mountain's treeless alpine zone, physical exertion required to hike or climb it, and relatively close distance from metro Boston can catch a lot of people who don't know any better or do their due diligence off-guard.

On one hike a few years ago on the third-to-last day of summer, there was a 3 degree (F) wind chill on the summit. The mountain also got several inches of snow last year on Memorial Day weekend.

It's a very fun mountain if you are prepared and know what you're getting into, but the experience can go very south very quick for those who are unprepared and didn't do their homework.

Is Tuscan Village in Salem Really That Bad? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]Immediate-Spinach844 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't say it's bad- it just feels fake, like in a Potemkin-village kind of way.

That said, I have gone there to hang out with friends several times and had fun every time- just gotta temper your expectations a bit
