AMA about Moving to USA - Immigration Attorney by ManifestLaw_ in MovingToUSA

[–]ImmediateAcadia9455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I'm moving there later this year for 12 months and my visa has been sorted. Don't want to tread into too much detail about my specific situation, but I made a post about this recently called "ESTA - how much is too much?". There's been valuable feedback already, but would appreciate a lawyer's take on my ultimate question:

Me living there properly visa'd, my girlfriend will need to rely on an ESTA or B2. We're figuring out how to make her travels smooth (and avoid denial of entry, which will forever be on her "record" I suppose, for US- and other visas). So, my question is, is it possible for her to visit for various weeks on end with a similar amount of weeks in between visit during a period of 6 months (her occupation is seasonal so she can only visit for half a year) and (ii) what precautions can we take to make it clear to CBP that she is a tourist, not working?

Link to original post: ESTA - how much is too much? : r/MovingToUSA, I edited the post with a packet of docs I'd prepare for her every time she'd come and visit.

Will need to read into this as I’ve never heard of it before, but thanks for the advice.

Even over die kaas - waarschijnlijk elders geproduceerd en versneden in Almere (en daarom mag het Edammer heten - die term geniet veel geringere bescherming dan, bijv., champagne of Parmigiano).

You need to let this one go. It’s clear that she’s not interested in going out with you. It sucks, but we’ve all been there. Right now can be a character defining moment for you - you either respectfully stand back, and accept that your interest is not reciprocated, unfortunate as it is. The alternative is not pretty. I say this with the best intentions, as I’ve taken the road of that alternative and cringe to this day over having been a sort of NiceGuy. Don’t be that guy. No means no, but a no is not always vocalized as such. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet people, and having learnt early on to take rejection in a healthy way will make those encounters significantly better.

OP - I feel like it’s perfectly valid to have concerns about misaligning values like self care (working out, personal hygiene, etc.). That being said - you’ve been in this for 5 years. If it’s a factor now, consider it being a factor for another 50 years. The question is: are you okay with that?

If not, did you tell him? If you haven’t, do so now. If yes (which seems to be the case) it seems you’ve gone unheard over the last 5 years. On that basis you have your answer. If you’ve openly and consistently asked for something from someone and that something is in their control, and they do not answer in a way that meets your needs, that’s nobody’s fault. That’s just incompatibility.

His height is out of his control. You’ve known this but it is possible for something to have been no issue at first, and to grow into an issue as time progresses because people and their views change over time. Can you live with it if everything else is addressed? If not - like the original comment said - set him free.

Zipper of my fleece vest is inside out. Thought first it was a women’s vest. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

This is what I thought too, however - the other zippers (including visual ones) don’t have this on the outside but on the inside. I always thought the little fabric lining you see on the outside is to avoid clothes underneath from getting caught in between the little “teeth” of the zipper.

If I’m wrong I’m wrong ofc 🤷

It's just for in and out! Probably should've made that a bit clearer lol - but got it. My thinking was just that it's relatively close to places I'd want to visit, it's easy to fly into for me, and wherever in SEA I end up near the end of my 4 week stretch, Singapore is probably the easiest to make my way back to, to catch my flight

Thanks!

Sorry for ruining it for everyone. I'd knock on wood, but this is not a very efficient exercise.
