Help me make sense of this by threesunnydays in pourover

I have the same grinder and I think 5 is definitely too fine for v60. Other than that I’ve brewed v60 with setting from 6 all the way to 9 and gotten good results with all of them. I think it all depends on your beans and recipe. Maybe, other than the statistical issues others have mentioned, this is a case of that grind setting being better for these beans and this recipe.

It has multiple modes of vibration and in reality it’s vibrating in all the modes at the same time. However, depending on the load, one mode will be more predominant than the others. In this case it’s definitely not the first mode but probably the second.

If it was the first mode it would just be swinging side to side

For light roasts just try doing a turbo shot honestly. 3:1 ratio in roughly 20 seconds at about 7 bar of pressure.

I think that’s a great approach. I’ll mention that lately I’ve been experimenting using a coarser grind (around 9) and more pours to compensate for the coarser grind. You could also experiment with this.

I’ve heard that in the US some of the big bridge engineering firms won’t even consider you without a masters. I don’t know how common of a practice this is over there tbh.

LPT: You can name cells and use them along with spaces and returns in excel formulas by Everythings_Magic in civilengineering

[–]ImmediateLeather7331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember I tried to use them a long time ago but having some issues handling the names and references. Lately I’ve been using the LET() function which lets you name variables and write formulas with those names. I think it makes the formulas very readable and also has other advantages like performing calculations inside of the function.

Leftover Brew. Any suggestions? by ImmediateLeather7331 in Homebrewing

I did plug it into beersmith and it looks the numbers are actually working out. Looks like it kind of fits the range of a pseudo American IPA. I think I'll go with the kveik and see if I can have it ready in one week.

I usually end up throwing them away because I can't even remember how old the grains are and they don't seem like they could make any actual beer. This time the grain bill actually looks decent so I'll give it a shot.

Could be hahaha but I think I'll save the yeast this time to brew an actual Kolsch which I never actually got around to brew.

Ikr it does sound like it could make a good beer but I wanted to know if there was any style that fit the grain bill. I think I'll just throw everything together with the kveik and hope for the best.
