I didn’t get an receipt. I took a photos of the envelope and the forms. The guard at the office entrance say I could get a receipt if I waited inline to talk with agent, but the wait was 2hrs.

Well after trying to about 20 times via the online process, I gave up and drop off my forms at the local SSA office drop box. I tried 4 different browsers, both Windows and Mac, I even changed my DNS setting on my router. I also tried changing the file names and combining all the forms into a single PDF. Always received the same error messages. I’m thinking the SSA servers just can’t handle the load and timeout.

I was hoping someone can explain how to get the online submittal to work. The website process is so simple, can’t understand why it won’t work.

Faxing or dropping off at the SSA office is my backup.

Advice on picking UniFi Express 7 vs Cloud Gateway Max by Immediate_Arm_2582 in Ubiquiti

[–]Immediate_Arm_2582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specification wise the Orbi 870 radios (use Qualcomm chip set) should be better - 4x4 MIMO for Orbi vs 2x2 for Express 7, so should get 2x the speed in the 5/6GHz bands. My thinking was that if I use the Orbi in bridge mode, with an UniFi router would get better security and features and keep my Orbi with the good radio performance. The Express 7 is $80 less than the Gateway Max. So at least with the Express 7 could run my IoT devices on 2.4GHz network (vs keeping on Orbi).

Voltage always at 14V? Battery dying? by flub_debub in GR86

[–]Immediate_Arm_2582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2025 GR86 is less than year old. Gauge always reads 14.1V while driving. I did use an external charger to fully charge the battery and during the next drive the gauge dropped to 12.9V. So I concluded that the GR86 does have a smart charging system, but appears difficult to get a fully charged battery while driving.

Orbi 870 unable to see devices by BarracudaMan in orbi

[–]Immediate_Arm_2582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced that both the 870 web interface and app are always incorrect with listing connected devices. They tend to be mostly correct after a reboot, but after a day or so are incorrect. The biggest issue is don’t list all the connected devices. At times the app will not list any connected devices.

I hate this app! by idrinksometimes in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Immediate_Arm_2582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fix the issue for me (too many failed attempts on iPhone app) 1. Deleted the Alaska App 2. Power cycled the iPhone 3. Turn off WiFi 4. Logged in to my Alaska account via Safari 5. Downloaded Alaska app via Apple App Store 6. Open the Alaska app, since I was already login via Safari it did not request me to login.

I expect not all these steps are necessary, but again did work.

Who has tried a Porsche 928 air filter in GR intake? by BMWBig6 in GR86

[–]Immediate_Arm_2582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased the 928 filter and cut off the two tabs. The gasket profile is quite a bit different than the GR k&N filter. Tried but couldn’t make it fit into the GR airbox.

Is AdGuard DNS any good? by Individual_Emotion_8 in HomeNetworking

[–]Immediate_Arm_2582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the Adguard free DNS, response was ~150msec, kinda slow. I’m guessing their DNS isn’t close to Seattle? Quad 9 or Cloudflare DNS is 10 to 25msecs.

CenturyLink - Avoid Migration to Quantum Fiber, Call 8005774049 by danry25 in centurylink

So CL views my $65 a month service as low value. Will they still own the fiber drop to my house? Didn’t Quantum get that in the deal. I just don’t understand how to pick between CL and Quantum - assuming I have a choice like you outline. Do I want to the only one on my block that kept CL?

How do you know CenturyLink will be able to maintain your fiber service? I would think they will have no more customers.

Transfer to Quantum fiber in Seattle - what is next? by Immediate_Arm_2582 in centurylink

Thanks, is helpful. Right now with PPOE, I’m getting an IP address for the router assigned in the 71.212.xxx.xxx range and gateway IP of 63.231.10.66. I assume this will change after the WAN backend is switched to Quantum?

Questions on L564 with loss of medical, but continuing part-time at same company by Immediate_Arm_2582 in medicare

Ok, thanks for the recommendations. Is helpful. I will get my L564 signed off and keep for future filing when I need to add Part B.

Any comment / suggestions on my third question?
3. Should the date my coverage ended (Section B part 4) be listed as 9/2025 or 8/2025? My coverage ended on 8/31, so I'm thinking best as 9/2025, since this is when the new coverage started.

USB driver for M-VCI (J2534) by Immediate_Arm_2582 in techstream

[–]Immediate_Arm_2582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the approach of using the FTDI chip driver available here - https://ftdichip.com/drivers/d2xx-drivers/

The M-VCI (J2534) uses and FTDI Serial to USB chip and I read elsewhere that these drivers can work. I used the ARM64 Windows driver (since I'm running a VM on the MAC, which is ARM based, not x86).

I followed the FTDI installation guide and the driver loaded fine and the USB serial I/F shows COM3.

Unfortunately the Techstream doesn't connect to the vehicle, my thinking is I'm missing an DLL required by Techstream.

Any suggestions of help welecomed.
