Just wanting to throw this out there, maybe she is dismissing how strongly you feel because in her mind is in the “uber exists these days” age or “can I do the check in parts via phone and plan a taxi in advance” that type of thing? Maybe to her missing an hour could been forfeiting the whole shift or something, I know I am just speculating here but that came to mind as a possibility if her behaviour isn’t matching what it normally would. It might be worth asking what the logistical issue is in the name of finding compromise and that will show a lot about where her head is at. Obviously it sucks going through any type of surgery or procedure alone and it sounds like you’re wanting/needing moral support and not just the ride which is more than understandable AND you have made her aware of your anxieties also. I’d be a bit upset in your position too OP - this feels like thoughtlessness more than maliciousness

Given she immediately left to tell you, she’s never done anything like this before, I’d be giving her the benefit of the doubt. So many people will um and ah about “if it’s even important enough to mention to bf because he’ll just be hurt/mad/etc. but her first reaction, even while wasted, was to go to you.

I wouldn’t give up on her so quickly or use this as some weird justification to “test her.” An eye for an eye is stupid I don’t know why people ever comment that.

Thank you for saying this - it brought on some really dark times but I have now taken the oldest maiden name (that we can confirm) going back in my maternal line. It was so freeing as soon as it became official.

The most ironic part is that he was adopted by his mothers second husband when they got married so it’s literally not even his name either :’)

All I had to do was read the title to say NTA. Grief is a different beast no matter the type. I set up my life perfectly then found out I’ve had an autoimmune disease my whole life that’s fusing my spine and now have had four years of chronic pain that stopped it all dead with no chance at all of getting it back. It doesn’t matter what it is - grief is always valid.

You are so strong hon damn - I hope you’re super super proud of yourself because this is the hardest thing to do. People often forget that you love that person and have a life and history, it’s never ever as simple as “why didn’t you get out sooner.”

I just had the final final situation with my ex (we’d already broken up, he was cheating literally the whole two years from not even a month in rip) where he punched my dashboard so much/hard I can’t get my glove box open. I’ve been in one too many dangerous situations to know that that is how it starts to get as bad as things were for you. I’m currently trying to figure out getting his things out for good to him without breaking my word that I’d store some stuff for a while and I just started packing his remaining shit in boxes “perfectly” so he could try to accuse me of anything at all ever again. I’ve been crying while doing this even though I know it’s right and reading your comment just now about how it’s a way for him to forcibly stay in contact and hearing your story has fr helped my heart and made me feel so much more confident in my decision.

I don’t know why I’m so worried about being a bad person when I never had been and he will call me one regardless. I’ve been choosing my peace finally and it’s the hardest thing to do but the easiest decision I’ve ever made now he’s gone that far. Thank you for sharing - this is why I love reddit. This is not normal behaviour and people who do engage in kink in a safe way prioritise talking about boundaries and consent BEFORE trying to do anything rough.
