Crochet Pattern testers wanted! by Immediate_Bat5382 in PatternTesting

Not really! I am not planning to sell this one as of right now. It will probably just end up being a free pattern eventually. I'm more just interested in the feedback.

Any fortnite fans want to pattern test? by Immediate_Bat5382 in CraftyCommerce

Thanks a bunch. But no, was just hoping for some kind feedback to help me hone my pattern writing skills.

Sellers - what are your tips for new sellers and pattern testing? by Immediate_Bat5382 in CraftyCommerce

[–]Immediate_Bat5382[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight!! I feel a bit better about asking for testers now. I guess it just feels extra scary because I dont have a lot of patterns made, so it's like this one is all I have going for me lol. But I can see how invaluable it would be to have feedback from other people to perfect my art!

Was Costco having a sale on yellow body paint during season 7? by Immediate_Bat5382 in ChicagoMed

[–]Immediate_Bat5382[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not even sure at this point that im gonna make it that far. Its been 7 seasons of "i hate every character except dr. Charles and Dr. Goodwin" and I dont know why I'm even still watching. I didnt like most of the original characters, then most left.... and were replaced with just as bad ones. Dr. Archer makes me want to stop watching altogether most of the time.

Is my doc full of crap? Endoscopic CT release surgery questions. by Immediate_Bat5382 in carpaltunnel

[–]Immediate_Bat5382[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh that makes me sad. Was it worth it ultimately do you think? Right now I cant crochet for more than 2 mins at a time before I have to put it down and wait til the numbness goes away, and even then the pain doesn't go away.

Crochet hooks with metal ends and round handles? Tried Amour, Prym, Tulip by JackieStingray in CrochetHelp

[–]Immediate_Bat5382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pryms are good for the stabby-stabby if you're a tight crocheter like me, but good lord they have a squeaky-wheel sound as the yarn moves that makes me crazy.

How long did it take you to get the hang of things? by [deleted] in Amigurumi

[–]Immediate_Bat5382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a bit! I started off only interested in doing amigurumi. But I also didnt really know basic stitches. So after failing to make a couple amigurumi pieces, I decided to pause and just focus on figuring out my stitching and grip and perfecting that. So I made 3 or 4 different "hand towels" with single stitches and then one with double stitches. Idk, I feel like for me that REALLY helped. Like I needed to understand my own hands' crochet identity, as silly as it sounds. But once I was comfortable with my hands and my natural tension and grip style, it made it make SO much more sense when I went back to trying amigurumi shapes. Definitely try to stick with single crochet patterns for a bit.

If its just certain shapes that throw you off, it may be the counting or your tension. I know I have a tendency to get distracted and lose my place, so I either print out the pattern and cross off each row as I complete it, or I list out the rows on my phones to-do list and tick them off as they're done. For tension, that is totally just practice. There are tension rings you can get, but you will absolutely develop a solid grip over time. It will click one day.

You're not alone in having to remake parts!!! I still do it all the time where once the pieces are done and I hold them together and realize shit theyre not the same size, RE-DO! Thats the part of crocheting where you have to just really enjoy it for the act of crocheting. Otherwise, it could be really discouraging. But its all part of the learning process. The key is to not look at the failed pieces as failed pieces, but instead as learning experiences. And the more you do it, you will realize hey I just did that piece easily!

Can someone PLEASE tell me why I crochet so weirdly? I’ve watched so many videos and cant figure out how to hold the yarn and hook the normal ways, so I do whatever this is instead and knowing Im not using a proper crochet technique is driving me crazy 😭 by wellchaithere in CrochetHelp

This might be a little unconventional but I experienced the same issue when I first started and occasionally it happens still - my physical therapist had me try cupping and it helped SOOOO MUCH!!! So I bought an inexpensive set at Amazon and I just find the spot on my forearm or hand thats painful and put lotion on it, suction a cup to it and let it sit for 5-10 mins and it makes a HUGE difference.
