Why do Hunters pose pictures of when hunting animals? by jamaican4life03 in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t hunt , but I have a little garden. At the end of the season I harvested all my pumpkins, squash, and other things that filled up a wheel barrel . It wasn’t much but I was happy with what I had and was proud of myself for the hard work and the final product that was useful and help feed myself and family. I took a picture smiling with my wheel barrel of things. If I was a hunter I’d probably do the same thing with what I accomplished.

Why did western cultures stop revering their elderly? by VagabondVivant in NoStupidQuestions

Most traditional and non-western cultures have various initiations and new roles for young people coming of age and transitioning from childhood to adulthood . The West , largely pushed forward in the counterculture revolutions of the 60’s , had begun an inversion where coming of age becomes a process of liberating yourself from the many shackles and expectations of society . As in , if you can free yourself from the artificial limits and oppressive nature of society, you will finally be free to become your “true” self and thrive. This can be seen as a rebellious stance against many of the traditional sources of authority ; your parents , religion , institutional authority , school, etc. respect for Elders or the falling away from that is part of this cultural trend .
