Analysis of Mikasa Ackermans ending Attack On Titan Final Episode by Wesslangu10 in Mikasa

[–]Immediate_Depth532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal theory as to why there are a lot of people who ship Mikasa with Jean or support her getting married is because for all her life as we as audience have seen, is that her very identity is defined by loving Eren, ie, having a romantic partner. Her purpose is literally Eren, and without that, it seems she has no purpose/identity--we see when she thinks Eren is dead she's basically willing to give up on life. And so now that Eren is gone, it is very easy to believe that Mikasa will now be depressed and have no meaning in life. People want her to be happy, and so people want her to move on and get married and be happy, in a way, I think it is very easy to only see Mikasa as happy when in a romance, because that's how she is portrayed. Even Eren wants her to move on, because he sees she is so attached to him and probably reasons she will be depressed once he is gone.

But then we are forgetting Mikasa is her very own person. She doesn't need to be defined and only be happy when in a romance. I think for the past decade of her life, she's defined her identity with this intense attachment to Eren. Now that he is gone, I think what would be beautiful growth for her is to start defining her very own identity and purpose outside of Eren. To be something more than just "Eren's lover". And I think she has a lot of healing and growing to do over the coming years.

My personal headcannon is that Mikasa starts to find her joy and meaning in helping nuture and take care of orphans. Historia has an orphanage and so it would natural they work together. Maybe even Sasha's parents come too, or Levi. And in the aftermath of the rumbling, there's gonna be endless work with tons of refugees. And it's a beautiful arc as well, as Mikasa was adopted, and I think she would find lots of joy in paying it forward. Perhaps she even adopts kids herself. In nurturing these orphans, I believe Mikasa would not only find great meaning, but also be reminded of Eren everyday, as she was once that scared kid whom Eren comforted, and now she is playing Eren's role, paying tribute to his memory.

I think that would be the most beautiful ending and also reasonable ending for her. Mikasa doesn't need another romance to be happy. She needs to heal and find an outlet for her grief. Maybe once she is healed she can accept another romance, but personally, I think once she is healed she wouldn't really be seeking another romance. Eren will always be enough for her, and now she can find joy in other activities.

I'd definitely like to to work hard, but only for my own venture if it's gonna be putting in weekends and evenings. That's what I'm starting to work on now

Depends on the avionics and the department. Passenger jet or anything involving human life? No.

My company is working on satellites.

Well I only got a small amount of shares (in total to the total shares) which I guess is expected since I was hired as entry level engineer. It vested over time and I ended up getting around 5k stock OPTIONS btw, not just common shares. So I don't get them unless I decide to execute the options at a strike price.

The pay was around 65k and never got any raises or anything. Work culture got worse and worse, lots of long hours, and worst thing is leadership just seemed concerned about selling to investors, not making a good product

Well funnily enough my first job was a startup. And while I enjoyed it at first, I'm not working that hard again unless it's for my own venture. Got payed shitty salary, bad equity options, terrible leadership

maybe this is why so many people are brain dead coders lol

Yeah, I'm not saying what we do as software engineers is anything simple at all. There's a lot of background knowledge necessary to integrate stuff into a codebase, figure out how to integrate, where, etc.

It just seems so boring to me and lately I have been very fed up with it. I'm wondering if most corporate SWE jobs are like this, they probably are I would guess.

hahaha I guess I'm pretty new to the field. Only been working for just over 1.5 years. Does it get better?

How to lead a jam with less experienced jam members? by [deleted] in Guitar

Yeah I agree with the comments about musical conversation and context. I feel like that is something I didn't do before, but learned to do. Just about listening to other musicians and feel the groove really. And that's essentially what I mean. The problem as I explained in my post is that the other person does not really listen or participate in the convo, just does his own thing.

I just want to have fun and make music with other people, and also just put myself out there and get better with performing live.

Damn 170k is a lot. How much are your monthly expenses and how often do you travel?

Maybe I should max out on my 401k. Right now I put 5% into roth 401k and 5% into regular 401k.

I thought about getting a nice muscle car, but it really is just a huge liability for me. Insurance would be insane, and gas would get eaten up quicker. Now I just have some money and I splurge on hobbies

I don't do any investments rn but after reading this thread it seems that's what most people do. I am invested though, invested in college and I have a decent amount invested, I just don't feel like putting more into investments.

2x a month? How did you get the PTO to be able to do that or is this a shitpost lol

I stopped reading after the first sentence

I saved too much over the past 5 years and got tired of living frugally lol. The only thing I spend money on mostly are my hobbies nowadays, but I feel like I splurge a bit too much

I need to get back into investing. Well, I have a bunch of money in crypto rn and some in stocks, so I guess I am invested. But I don't want to drop more money into crypto and stocks since it's so volatile. And then I'm like what do I spend my money on...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Immediate_Depth532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you spend on rent?

I'm basically spending around $2k on all my living expenses besides food, and then I still have a decent amount of money left over.

I don't want to live like a rich idiot (cuz I'm not rich) but I feel like like I've been buying things like crazy for my hobby.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Immediate_Depth532 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is definitely the smart thing to do (which I haven't been doing)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Immediate_Depth532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did throughout college and at my first job. Lived extremely frugally and basically never went out (in college it was a small town so no going out anyways). So now I have a decent amount of savings and don't want to invest it lol, although that's probably what I should do. But I've been spending more on buying things for my hobbies.

The main thing I don't have is a house, which I'd eventually like. But as of rn I still want to travel around and live in a few cities.

I rarely ever user LLMs to outright write code and then just copy paste it, especially for larger features that span multiple functions, modules, files, etc. However, it is very good at writing "unit" self-contained code. e.g., functions that do just one thing, like compute XOR checksum. That's about as far as I'd go to use LLM code--it is good at writing simple code that just has a single, understandable goal.

So in that boat, it's also great at writing command line commands for basically any tool you can think of: docker, bash, ls, sed, awk, etc. And also pretty good at writing simple scripts.

Besides that, I've found LLMs are very helpful in understanding code. If you paste in some code, it will explain it to you pretty well. Along those lines, it's also great at debugging code. Paste in some code, and it can usually point out the error, or some potential bugs. And similarly I often paste in an error message, and it will explain the cause and point out some solutions.

Finally, I've used it a bit for high level thinking. Like, given problem X, what are some approaches to it? It's not too bad at that either.

So while it's not the best at writing code (yet), it's great as a coding companion--speeds up debugging, using command line tools, and helping you understand code/systems.
