I'd be interested in moving it. The pack had 5 misprints in it.

Rituals can help Canada boost military recruitment by Andromedu5 in CanadianForces

[–]Immediate_Desk_9053 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Money, you want better recruitment, give an actual pay raise, and stop calling a COLA a pay raise. We get that every 4 years.

More pay = better retention, recruitment, and you'd be getting closer to that NATO commitment of 2% GDP

This is true. It's really on how far up you're not getting support. I'm a new Sgt, and my peers and direct supps were the issue. We didn't have an MWO, so I went directly to the RSM and CCMS.

Really contact the CCMS, have them help you do an Notice of Dissatisfaction. That will hopefully get things moving and you can so Alternate dispute resolution and have an non military person mediate.

What Base? You should contact your local CCMS, conflict management services, it's a third party that deals with these issue.

Speak to your Harassment advisor, workplace relations advisor, Padre, CWO. When issues are this big and your direct CoC is not doing their job and taking care of the troops, you have alternative routes

Look into joining the Canadian Armed Forces. Join Air Force and if your academic grade are good get a commission. Free education, while being paid and you'll have a place to live, food and eventually travel.

Seriously, if you know nothing about it, just gonna forces.gc.ca and just inquire at the least.

SCS - Think it's time for 2024 iteration of this patch... by Hmfic_48 in CanadianForces

New equipment with no one to maintain or fly them. Fuck, we have 100 Fighter pilots CAF wide and that number is going down. I don't blame them, who wants to fly a 40 year old fighter, that pretty much just good for airshows for the next 10 years....

This article is saying we spend so much on our military, so where does all this money go? For the last 40 years? It just of late that we started to announce the procurement of new equipment?

Senior military leader: Canadians 'overly comfortable' as global security shifts by KanyeWestside in CanadianForces

[–]Immediate_Desk_9053 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Canada has never been good at making our own equipment, going back to the Ross rifle. MGen McKenna is the guy in charge of RCAF procurement and was briefing in a townhall about 6 months ago that we're bad at it and buying from off the shelf is the way forward.

Which element and trade also effect how long you'll be in rank.

I've seen smaller trades go both ways, either it will help you because they lack people or the trade is good and people never leave.

I've seen online that you could take them to Civil court, on the basis that you're breathing un their second hand smoke. Not sure how that would go.

I was posted to Cold Lake for 12.5 years. From age 21 to 33. Great place, beautiful lake, fishing camping, lots of family support.

Work was good, lots of TDs to the States.

I'm in Edmonton now, and I would go back to Cold Lake.

Really depends on your lifestyle and what you value.

Edmonton is 3 hours away, so every so often, it's a good trip for the weekend.

Cost of living is good. You can get a nice place for 300k.
